Now, here's a quick list of what NOT to do if you want to keep your Amazon Associates account open.
What NOT to do on Your Website
- Don't promote pornography, prostitution, phone sex lines, illegal drugs, hate speech, racism, terrorism, etc.
- Don't use deceptive, false, libelous or defamatory remarks
- Don't lie, make crazy claims of cancer cures, make remarks about real people and companies that are lies and hurtful, basically.
- Don't infringe on other people's intellectual property rights
- Don't plagiarize, don't steal images, etc.
- Don't use Amazon trademarks and logos, except through their links.
- Don't use Amazon pictures as this is stealing images. They provide links to use for images.
- DO NOT POST PRICES
- Amazon prices change multiple times per day, and it's not uncommon for the same item to change prices often in that same day. Do not post prices on your website, unless you're using their tools to do so.
- Do not cloak your Amazon affiliate links with bit.ly or similar. You MUST use their link shortener.
- Don't deceive your audience with false claims about products you're linking to
- Do NOT offer people a reward or incentive to click on your links.
- This means don't give them free ebooks after proof they purchased a product through your links, or offer them a giveaway if they use your links, or a discount code if they use your links.
- Do not use customer reviews or review ratings on your site, except through the PA API.
- Do not use trademarked terms and common misspellings in your domain name.
- Don't encourage your audience to bookmark your affiliate links
Where Amazon Affiliates are NOT Allowed
Do not use your affiliate links with these methods.
- Email and email lists
- You must direct people to your site, then to Amazon with your links.
- Web browser extentions, malware, viruses, plug-ins, software, etc.
- Use your Amazon Affiliate link to rank in Search Engines or pay for Search Engine ads by bidding on trademarked terms or common mispellings.
- No redirecting links
- On Amazon Spark, in Amazon reviews, etc. No linking on Amazon itself
- Ebooks
- T-shirts and other offline advertising
- Apps (unless your app is approved by Amazon)
What You Can't Do
- You can't use your affiliate links to make a purchase.
- You can't encourage friends, family, coworkers, employees to use your affiliate link to make a purchase
Where Can You Use Amazon Affiliate Links
- Your website
- Your social media channels, as long as it's allowed on the social media platform. For example, Facebook allows affiliate links but Quora does not.
- If you app is approved, you can use your app and ONLY that app.
What You MUST Do
You must comply with laws according to your country and the country of the affiliate program and the country of your audience. I know, it's complicated. To be safe, be sure to include the following:
- Affiliate Disclosures, both an in-depth page and a notice on each page that includes affiliate links.
- Here's a link to the FTC guidelines: https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/ftc...
- This also covers other endorsement disclosures. If you were paid to write an review, you must disclose that. If you were given a product for free to review, you must disclose that. If your wife runs a bakery that you're reviewing, you must disclose that, too.
- You don't have to disclose if you paid for a product and you're reviewing it.
- Privacy Policy
- You have to have a page that informs people what you do with their data and what type of data you collect.
- GDPR Complience (if you're in the EU or have EU customers)
- They have to opt-in to tracking cookies, or opt-in to every newsletter they sign up for.
- You need a cookie popup acceptance button. There are plug-ins for that.
- If you have multiple newsletters, you have to require them to choose each one they want to receive email for. Check boxes are fine, but they can't be pre-checked off.
Keep in mind this is an overview. DO read the Program Policies yourself.
Now that we've covered the basic rules, we'll go onto what you guys really came here for. How to generate 3 sales in 180 days.

This is just what I was looking for. I've always been wary of Facebook, but I guess I can bite the bullet. So many cases and lawsuits and they keep your info forever. But I have to do this job now that I've started, and that's going to need to include social media, which I've never used as a personal means of communication. (I'm older, so we didn't grow up with this, although most my age also use it.) This is exactly what I need to concentrate on while producing more content and finishing Kyle's course. I think I'm gradually being made comfortable about spending more and more time every day--I definitely wasn't at first when I couldn't quite figure out where I was. That Live Chat is fabulous. And so are you. Thanks again.

You're amazing at creating training! This is a very thorough resource that explains exactly what you said, and I can see how this would work very well.
I've done quite a bit of networking in the Facebook groups and that's how I was able to get lots of sales for my books. Great advice!
