Hi! Welcome to my very first tutorial here on Wealthy Affiliate.

The Amazon Associates program has been a source of frustration for many affiliate marketers, especially when just starting out. I definitely don't want my fellow Wealthy Affiliate members to give up on this affiliate program, so here's a step-by-step guide to how I kept my Amazon Associates account.

What is Amazon Associates?

If you've found this training and have no idea what I'm talking about, here's a quick refesher.

Amazon Associates is the affiliate program for the Amazon websites. They run their own program and it's not available through any affiliate network.

In order to sign up, you must go through their website.

Countries With Amazon Associates Program Available

Currently, you're able to sign up for an Amazon Associates account in the following countries:

  • United States
  • Canada
  • UK
  • Australia
  • Spain
  • Mexico
  • Brazil
  • Germany
  • India
  • France
  • China
  • Japan

For example, if you're target audience will be in Austraila and the UK as well as the United States, you will need to apply for all three countries.

If Amazon and it's affiliated websites deliver to your country, you're able to join their associate program.

States with No Amazon Associates Program

If you live in the following states, you cannot apply for the Amazon Associates Program, thanks to tax laws.

  • Arkansas
  • Colorado
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont
  • Maine
  • Missouri

Where to Apply to the Associates Program

Go to your choses Amazon website, and scroll all the way down to the bottom of the homepage.

Choose Become an Affiliate!

But WAIT!

Before you apply, you should make sure you have your website set up. We'll cover these next!

This is just what I was looking for. I've always been wary of Facebook, but I guess I can bite the bullet. So many cases and lawsuits and they keep your info forever. But I have to do this job now that I've started, and that's going to need to include social media, which I've never used as a personal means of communication. (I'm older, so we didn't grow up with this, although most my age also use it.) This is exactly what I need to concentrate on while producing more content and finishing Kyle's course. I think I'm gradually being made comfortable about spending more and more time every day--I definitely wasn't at first when I couldn't quite figure out where I was. That Live Chat is fabulous. And so are you. Thanks again.

You're amazing at creating training! This is a very thorough resource that explains exactly what you said, and I can see how this would work very well.
I've done quite a bit of networking in the Facebook groups and that's how I was able to get lots of sales for my books. Great advice!

Aw, thank you! Coming from you, that means a lot!

Facebook marketing can definitely be useful for book sales! You have to stay on top of it though if it's part of your marketing strategy.

But to keep your account open so you don't have to change links, that's golden! I've seen a lot of members complaining about the 3 sale rule.

It likely could work for making money too, but its not as passive as affiliate marketing. Your post only gets seen for a limited time on FB. And too many people spam.

Hopefully this helps some people avoid getting their Associates account closed.
