2) It's important that you understand how to find keywords that have high search numbers but low competition and that you write articles using these EXACT keyword phrases.

Once you are at this point, you can break from that course training for a while and look at this:
3) Now use Jay's video training to help you set up Google Analytics and Webmaster tools (aka Search console) on your site. Find that video here: Hello: Google Webmaster Tools
What is most important here is that you get your Google Analytics and Webmaster tools accounts set up, with your website connected to them.
You want your Google Analytics tracking ID entered in All-in-one-SEO.
(I do recommend that asap you watch every archived Live Video Class that interests you as they are packed with gems of wisdom and info that will help you. If you don't do that now, do it later. In the long run, you won't regret the time spent.)
4) Make a Google+ (Google Plus) account and a business page for your website (or add a business page for your site to your existing personal Google+ account) if you haven't already.
