Understanding Twitter's 2000/10% rule. If you are If you are building your list fast you may run foul of the 2000 followers limit. The designers of Twitter don’t want you SPAMMing your followers. Twitter wants a balance between your followers and those you follow.

Regardless of how many followers you have, you can follow 2,000 people without a

problem. So even if only 100 people follow you, you can follow 2,000. So at 2000 followers the 10% rule comes into

force. When your followers reaches 1819 you can add another 10% or up to 2200 follows. When the 2000 rule kicks in focus on unfollowing and following new people until you hit the 2000 threshold. Once you have 2001 followers the 10% rule will kick in and you can add another 200. Obviously you need to maintain your follow/follower ratio. You gather followers by making interesting and helpful Tweets. Make at least three helpful tweets a day. Emphasize INTERESTING and HELPFUL. If you pitch adds all the time Twitter will probably shut you down, but even worse, your followers will tire of your adds and desert you.

I have found that the quickest, easiest and often the most well received Tweets are

motivational quotes and one-line jokes. The internet can help you find one liners.

Duplicate. When you hit the 2000 limit and your recruiting slows. Set up another account. You can go for another niche, or you can set up another account in your same niche. Wont it be nice when you have several accounts of 2000 and can promote, educate and market to a target audience who want what you can offer.

Use the power of Twitter to form to attract people who you could never meet otherwise. Make friends and look for ways you can work together to help each other live their dream life.

Nice, Bill! I've been on Twitter for years but don't really use it correctly. Some great tips here. I finally have more followers than I'm following. I have to figure out who's not following me back. I never pay attention to that.
