Determining Where to Obtain Powerful Backlinks

In October 2013, Google head of search spam Matt Cutts implied we would likely not see another Google Toolbar PageRank update before the year end. Well, by accident, Google updated Toolbar PageRank in December 2013. Since then, we have had no Toolbar PageRank updates.

Back in "the day", we could go to a website and it would have a Google "PageRank" assigned, from 1 to 10. Well, actually, from zero to 10. Zero being the lowest. Then, as the website created age and popularity it would slowly climb up the scale. The only websites I recall that actually had a PR of 10 was Google itself.

But, alas, the simple Google PageRank system is no more.

So, many of us SEO gurus had to result to other means of discovering a website Google "authority". Since then, Moz (began in 2004 as an SEO consulting company) has risen to the forefront of the search engine marketing arena. They are one of the top recognized authorities on natural organic search engine traffic.

ORGANIC - organic traffic is simply the term we use for Googlers to find a website when they type in keywords in the Google Search function.

NON-ORGANIC - basically, using a paid method of driving website traffic to your website. Pay-Per-Click marketing, Banner advertising (which is really a form of PPC), etc.

Organic is eventually free traffic after it's built. PPC will always incur a cost and while it works great, will incur some in-depth study or you can lose your shorts really fast. Trust me here!

This is the free tool bar you can download as an "Extension" (add-on) for your Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox web browsers. It's pretty cool and installs quickly. It can be cumbersome at first, but worth learning. And, you can switch it on and off. (It will slow down your search results page loading if left continuously on.)
