Search engine optimization doesn't happen overnight and while on-page SEO is needed and should be involved when writing blog posts and pages, the OFF-Page SEO will further bring the website traffic - most especially for highly competitive keywords.

I use this free tool a lot when researching competitive websites such as the highly used keyword "affiliate marketing". Again, for those of you somewhat new to SEO, if your primary keywords are "longtail" in nature such as "Best Websites for Affiliate Marketing", then that alone might rank very well if your main page is built around it. But, for the shorter ones, it's much more competitive in this niche.

When it's your website up against another website very similar, gaining the number 1 spot on Google or Bing search results is all about who has the better quality backlinks (when all other facts are equal or very close to equal.)
