These comments are great because the reader has obviously read the post and is keen to share their thoughts. But they can be distracted, perhaps linking to obscure things outside of your area, or accidentally taking the conversation off in a different direction.
So where do you go? - well remember you are the site manager you have the power and the responsibility to control the conversation and bring it back on topic
My blog on kittens was on looking after very young kittens, but then I receive
Hi really loved your post reminded me of my grandmother who used to keep cats and she always had kittens running around the house. The house could small at times I wondered if you had any advice of keeping the smell away. She also had an older Tom cat but he ran away is that normal for older male cats I hear it can happen quite a bit.
There are three points in this comment
- link to kittens
- smell with too many cats
- male cats and territories
So you need at least three sentences one for each, but each is a chance to promote or direct your readers somewhere different. If I have posts on any of those topic already link them to it and don't embellish the point, if not at the end add a statement such as
your comments on managing smells from cats and about male tom cats are both really interesting areas that I will cover in my future cat blog, so maybe you would like to sign up to the newsletter and be informed when these topics are out.
