Your Lead Magnet
We mentioned the lead magnet a while ago. It's what you offer your visitors in exchange for their email addresses. An incentive.
In this part of the course, you're going to create one. "Join Our Newsletter" won't cut it, right?
So let's get started.
How to Create a Lead Magnet
If you want your lead magnet to attract subscribers, you'll need the right topic. It's just like a blog post. If it's irrelevant, no one will want to read it.
The topic needs to solve a problem your audience is having. And, I would recommend you shouldn't create a huge 100-page eBook.
Start with something smaller. Some of the best lead magnets are between 1 and 5 pages.
For example, you could offer something like one of these:
- 5 Ways to Earn $50 Today
- The 5-Step Formula to Ranking in Google's Top 10
- 33 Email Outreach Templates That Work
- The 30-Day Plan to Losing 10 Pounds
- The Texas Hold'em Strategy No One is Talking About
- The 3-Point Checklist to Cleaning Your Hard Drive
- The Top 5 Places Where You Can Get Your Own Custom Gaming Chair
- Our Top 3 Recommended Paintball Guns for 2017
So here's what to do:
Step 1: Pick a Topic
There are a few ways to coming up with the perfect topic.
The easiest way is to check your analytics and see your most popular content. But if you don't get much traffic, this method won't work.
Another way is to go on Quora or a (relevant) Facebook Group and ask the members what their biggest struggles are. You could even go on Reddit, LinkedIn Groups, or even some of your niche's most active forums.
When you find your topic, you can then begin putting it together.
Step 2: Create it
Canva...
So the first thing you're going to do is login, or create a free account if you haven't already.
When you're ready to go, click the square/plus-sign toward the top right corner of the page. This will bring up all of Canva's templates.
Scroll down until you see eBook under the Blogging & eBooks category.
Next, you need a layout. You can start blank, but believe me, it's easy with a layout.
Oh, and be careful. Not all of their layouts are free.
Once you've got that done, you are ready to start writing up your lead magnet's content.
It might take you a while to get everything to fit. At least it did for me. Trying to fit a 5-point checklist in one page wasn't easy.
But don't try and worry about it too much. Use as many pages as you need.
Let's move on.
I'm trying a slightly different tactic I found online that's free for life and also offers the free marketers as well. Just call me cheap!! I did write a review about it. I've got to make some time tonight and finish it up so it's on auto pilot for me lol. I also want to check out the other free programs with it so I can review them as well. I'm glad you mentioned mailchimp and the 2000 limit because I was thinking about using them, but trying to set it up gave me a head ache so I went with an easier route. Thanks for the information--it was very helpful. take care and best wishes!!
