What About Guest Posting on my Own Website?
Let's clarify.
By this question, You mean allowing someone else to provide a guest post on your website - as opposed to guest posting on your own website, which is ridiculous, agreed?
Some SEO experts will disagree with me, but I'm a huge proponent of allowing guest posts. This creates a relationship with other website owners within your chosen niche market and as I mentioned earlier allows you to take a break.
Also, the website owner that is requesting a guest post on YOUR blog will share his published content and create more backlinks for you! Again, a win-win!
The RULEs for Guest Posting
Okay, perhaps these aren't hard and fast rules per se, but simple etiquette. My mom taught me good etiquette. This builds respect and helps develop that relationship with other website owners....
When I personally guest post for another business own, I always perform the following steps:
- Link to the роѕt frоm my blog
- Prоmоtе it оn Twitter (ѕеvеrаl times)
- Share it on Fасеbооk
- Thаnk the person
- Stick аrоund and respond to соmmеntѕ оn the роѕt
Check out the website owner's guidelines for guest posting. Of course, be sure to follow each one with enthusiasm! Heck, Over-deliver! Stand out. This will increase you chances for approval.
When you pitch the guest post opportunity via the guidelines mentioned, PERSONALIZE your email. Again, you should have commented on at least a few of the already existing articles on the website and hopefully interacted with the website owner. So, use their name when addressing them in the contact form or email.
Sure, you'll have to schmooze a bit. But, also provide the website owner with a few details about what your post can do for him or her. Don't go on an ego-trip here! :-)
Be respectful, but show how what talents and exciting information you will provide to the readers and help build his/her blog! Also, mentioned that you will promote the article after the fact!
Remember! It's not about you. It's not an advertisement!
