So now lets take a look at the body section of the code
Like all tags the body tags is opened and then closed and everything inside these tags will be the main section or body of the website its where all the meat of your content goes
First then lets discuss the <h> tag The h tag is used to create headers on your site and stands for "heading level 1" there is always a lot of confusion about how to use these as there are actually six <h> tags and they are as follows
<h1> heading level 1
<h2> heading level 2
<h3>heading level 3
<h4>heading level 4
<h5>heading level 5
<h6> heading level 6
The <h> tags play a role in your on page SEO they are a way of telling Google what you page or post is about, so you should always have your relevant keywords in the heading, so as to give Google the correct info on your, on page SEO
So below is a screen shot of how to create your <h1> tags for you page or post in WordPress
To create your h1 heading in WordPress, highlight the words in the heading and then click on paragraph and select the heading you want, in this case the heading 1
You will notice that the font of the heading gets smaller, as we go up in the numbers, so h1 is the most prominent and gives Google the level of importance to place on the words selected and so you need to have your keywords in the h1 tag to help your page rank for the keywords you have chosen
This post is called iOS 7 Features so the <h1> heading is called iOS 7 Features - Quick look on iPhone 5" so the keyword is now in my title and my main heading
The main mistake that people make with <h> tags is that they think that the headings should always go down in size the further they go down the page, this is not how it really works, as web pages are like magazines and newspapers, so you can use a <h1> tag further down the page or many <h2> tags, if you want to highlight something important to the reader, just like they do in newspapers and magazines.
So try and see your web pages as articles in magazines and newspapers and think of the reader and not Google, all the time, you can use HTML tags to highlight or grab attention of your readers, to get them more engged just like the media do
I love what you are doing, more people should learn this. Well at least the basics. I'm constantly going in the code and changing the dimension size of an ad. Great stuff Barry!
