How to arrange your Headings for both excellent User Experience and SEO
Like I said initially, WordPress allows you to use a different level of headers. It is to make organizing your article into sections containing paragraphs easier. But if you don’t know how to use these different headers you can get frustrated.
The headings are divided into six different levels, from heading1(H1) to heading level 6 (H6). It is a usual practice to reserve the first level (H1) for your main Heading and others are now subheadings. The subheadings are all arranged in their order of importance and are denoted by size. Which means, heading 2(H2) will be bigger in text size, and much more important than heading 5(H5) and Heading 6(H6).
Let us use my training titled What is Evergreen Content About as an example. Kindly use the link to see the article.
If you are working on a WordPress platform, you should tag your headings as follows:
What is Evergreen content about ------------------------------------- H1
Why Evergreen is important -------------------------H2
1)It has a long shelf life ------H3
2) Relevant for Newbies -----H3
3) Drives organic traffic ------H3
4) Reduce Bounce Rate ----H3
5) General support for long term SEO –H3
How to Create Evergreen Content ----------------------H2
Research Topic -------------H3
Research Keyword ---------H3
Write to your Audience ---H3
Optimize for the search engine –H3
Frequent update ------------- H3
With this, you would have logically used H2 and H3 to divide your article into sections. If the article has shorter sections, you can continue to subdivide into H4, H5 and even H6.
For newbies, I think it is good we go through how to add these headings.
