Just like with our online affiliate marketing businesses, building a profitable eBay business will take time. It must be started slow and small and grown bigger over time. The problem many people have when first starting on eBay is believing that making good money will happen quickly.
Making money online no matter how you do it will always take lots of time and hard work, as well as a little financial investment. There is no getting around those facts. If you do not realize these you will more than likely quit before you have a chance to succeed.
SUPPLIES FOR SHIPPING
I recommend that while you are building up your positive feedback on eBay by becoming a buyer first, start preparing what you will sell and how you intend to pack them up and mail them out. The following are some supplies you will need.
- Bubble padded envelopes
- Corrugated boxes, unless using the free USPS Priority Mail boxes
- Packing tape
- Postage scale. Mine only cost $30 and it will weigh from 1 ounce to 70 pounds. It can also be programmed to weigh in grams and kilograms
- Bubble wrap and packing material
- Printer toner and paper to print your shipping labels
- Space in a closet or someplace in the home to store items for sale
Make sure to learn how much shipping will cost for the items you will sell so you can charge your buyer appropriately. I am sure you have seen people offering “free shipping” and most times those listings will sell quicker than listings with shipping prices, but when first starting always charge shipping. Just DO NOT over-charge.
Once you become more of a seller you can offer free shipping if you like. Just remember that “free shipping” only applies to the buyer, you will still have to pay for shipping. So make sure to factor that into your asking price for whatever you sell when offering free shipping.
