Link to Other People’s Posts

Linking to other people’s posts is an excellent way to make your content go viral as it can double your traffic before you know it and brings a lot of exposure to your site in the online world.

If you have a number of blog mentors that you feel your audience can safely be connected to, don’t hesitate giving such personalities free mentions within your blog posts and they will reciprocate at a later time.

Build Outbound Links (External links)

Outbound links are known as external links - Links on your website that point or direct to other websites! In other words, outbound links are links that refer to pages on a website other than yours though these can have negative or positive impact on your search rankings based on the site you're linking to.

You might be having a lot of references in some niche-related posts outside your own blog that you may want to share with your readers. You can include links to such posts in your own blog posts but that must be done with care.

Good post, Israel. I have a couple of questions for you.

First: How many internal links to other posts do you feel should be included? I always try to do one, but wondering if more would not be better.

Also, is it a good idea for me to go back to my early posts and link them to more recent articles?

I think I know how you will answer this one: I get several quality blogs in my site regularly. Should I post something in these regularly?

Thanks for stopping by, FKelso! You can include more than one internal link directing to other posts in any of your blog posts provided you don't include promotional links which may potentially turn your page into a sales pitch. It's, of course, a pro blogging strategy and it can help you increase website traffic.

Yes, linking older posts to more recent posts is equally a pro blogging idea. It's perfectly good and can help you update your blog posts more and more for ranking.

Exactly, you should regularly post informative stuff across your blogs so far they are quality blogs on your site. They will all work together for your ranking. Thanks for asking!

Hi Israel,

Question:
Would it help to cite certain sources that I used in my blog posts?
Like at the end of a post to show some links like http://wikipedia.org that I used to gather information.

Thanks for the great training.

If you sourced information from elsewhere then it's generally a good idea to cite it as you write. So as an example I might say, according to this snippet from wikipedia.org: "snippet here"... etc...

I'm sorry for not getting back on time, mbmarketing5. Sourcing information for your write-ups is a legit idea but you may not always cite the sources so far you can endeavor to make the write-up totally unique. Pointing your readers to the sources where you got the information from is equally not a bad idea. Thanks for your visit! You are highly cherished.

Nice post but you need to change around 5 and 6, you got them backwards. Outbound links are external links. Inbound links are internal linking.
