How to Know if Your Ideal Customers are Following You
For you to know if your ideal customers are following you on social media, you need to first understand 3 things.
- Who is your ideal customer? You should be able to tell who your ideal customer is after creating your personas
- Who are those currently following you?
- Do the two people in 1 and 2 match?
When you answer these questions, you will start to understand where your marketing strategy is failing to attract your ideal customers. It will also help you notice if you have been tapping into the wrong market and also point you to people who will be interested in your product or service.
After knowing who your ideal customers are, there are two ways to test if they are the ones following you. The first way is going through statistics to get an understanding of your followers. The second way is to conduct in-depth research to get to know your followers better.
Understanding Your Followers
To get the basic information about your followers, you can make use of the in-built analytics feature of social media. Social media like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn give you access to information about your followers for free.
This saves you the cost of having to purchase software that does this. Twitter analytics gives you access to information about your followers like their age, interest, location, primary language, gender, and mobile carrier.
You can also get to know the number of social media followers that visited your site with the help of Google Analytics. Statistics similar to those on social media can give you an understanding of the people visiting your site.
Once this information is available to you, you can then compare the number of followers you’ve got to those who happen to be your ideal customers. For you to easily do this, I will advise that you make a table, list the attributes of both parties, and compare them together.
