How to get people to follow you on Twitter!
So this is really simple to do and I will show you some results from my Twitter analytics showing what happened when I started putting in a small amount of effort on Twitter.
So I have been on Twitter for quite a few years but really not sure how it worked and not very interested in it. Over a period of a few years I got just over 500 followers.
Since I heard Twitter was so great I managed to easily acquire over 1500 followers in 4 months with I promise you not much effort at all.
So here is what you will need to do:
Follow people that you find interesting in your niche
This is important and I will explain why later. Don't just mindlessly follow anyone and everyone!
You will find that when you follow people they very often follow you back.
Find someone with lots of followers in your niche?
You will come across some people on Twitter that have tons of followers and have a very successful Twitter account with lots of engagement.
Well go into their followers list and follow some of their followers that you find interesting.
Follow what is trending and use that hashtag effectively
You will see on the left hand side of your account a list of hashtags that are trending. If there is something that you can contribute to in a valuable way do that. This means you send out a tweet that is relevant to the trend and add the hashtag to your tweet.
I have found this to give amazing results when I find the time to do it.
Engage with others
This is huge and this is where it comes in that it is important to follow people you find interesting.
You will find your home page on Twitter so busy and you don't want to sift through loads of tweets that don't interest you to find a tweet to engage with. Trust me on this, when you are following thousands of people it gets hectic.
So every day go to your Twitter home and engage with others. Retweet their tweets, comment on their tweets.
Send out your own tweets and mention someone you respect and like on Twitter.
This is what will really get things pumping for you.
Quotes ROCK on Twitter!
Yes great quotes work so well, they get favourited, they get retweeted and they get replies. This really is great engagement for you.
Sign up to Tweet Jukebox.. you can have a free account there. They have programmed tweets that will keep rotating. All you have to do is connect your account and tell them how long between each tweet.
It is as simple as that and it keeps great quotes coming.
I believe you can also add some of your own tweets onto the rotation but then I would think you will have to maybe delete some of the quotes because there is a maximum amount of tweets you can have programmed on free account.

I suppose my content is better now after all this training... but it is still the worst quality of the lot.
I won't count LinkedIn because I don't even know how it works hahaha. I am on it, and I share to it but I honestly haven't a clue...

Ok so let's try this again. I think you should sign up for Tweet Jukebox asap, this will keep fun and interesting tweets coming on a regular basis. I think I have them scheduled for 3 times a day? Can't remember really.
Then with regards to engaging with others, the same policy applies here as it does to quality comments. Click on their link, scan their blog and leave a thought out and quality reply to their tweet that shows you have read their content. Help them out like you would like to receive help. If you do this as opposed to "hey thats cool" I promise you that that person will most likely do the same for you asap.
Then with following people, I'm not talking about following one new person a day. I'm talking about following like 50 in a day :) But make it no more than 100 daily. It's not that hard. Look for a user that you really enjoy that has loads of followers and then scan them all and every one that looks interesting and in your niches click follow.
I promise you that if you follow 50 people a day you will get a good amount of followers and very fast.
Oh and every now and then I go into the list of people I follow and unfollow a whole whack of them that aren't following me, not all the don't follow me but I try and keep the amount of people that I follow and that follow me around the same.
Thanks for the tips. I am definitely not following 50 people a day. It seems so time consuming being on twitter. I will try following more though and see how that works. I also find that so many people are just retweeting others. I think some accounts are set up just to retweet people.
Question about Tweet Jukebox. What kind of quotes are these? I assume they would pertain to many niches? I guess I should take a look at the site.
Nice going... I don't think I even have 100 Pinterest followers but really I don't even go on there, I just pin to it and leave it. I suppose as with any social network you need to spend a bit of time to get anywhere :)
