Much to my happiness I found that yes Twitter is an awesome social network and I'll explain why:

  • The website visits from Twitter are high quality visitors
  • Getting followers is EASY, yes you heard me easy! And I'll show you how soon.
  • It is easy to engage and get others to engage with you
  • It is easy to connect with anyone, mention anyone and do searches for topics
  • For a minimum amount of effort you can get some great results with Twitter (as opposed to other social networks)

I'm not going to go into all the pros that I researched online about Twitter, because I want to base this training on my own personal experience and results that I can show you.

So here is a screenshot of my recent Google Analytics (01 December 2015 - 20 January 2016).

So as you can see Pinterest is actually leading with a 0% bounce rate, on average 4 pages viewed and 6:35 minutes per session.

The difficulty though is that I have not yet figured out how to increase my Pinterest followers substantially in any way.

As you can see from the above screenshot Facebook visitors are on average only visiting for 58 seconds. Not great in my opinion.

Twitter is not doing too badly there right behind Pinterest.

Thanks, Lynne. I have been thinking about it; I think you have right and that they don´t click on links and if they do it is just a click and nothing more. :))

With Facebook yeah, but that was with my baby store... the bounce rate for that is terrible! But now with my WA websites it is much better bounce rate with Facebook.
I suppose my content is better now after all this training... but it is still the worst quality of the lot.

I won't count LinkedIn because I don't even know how it works hahaha. I am on it, and I share to it but I honestly haven't a clue...

Thanks Lynne. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have been on twitter for almost 8 months now and I still only have 237 followers. Everyday a few unfollow me and I get a few new followers. I am doing everything you have said to do (and I don't do any of the no no's). I guess I don't post all that often. Only a few times a day (if that - I typically don't post on weekends).

Do you have any other suggestions?

Oh poops I typed a long reply and then my electricity (and internet connection cut out)... ugh. Must remember to always top up lol.

Ok so let's try this again. I think you should sign up for Tweet Jukebox asap, this will keep fun and interesting tweets coming on a regular basis. I think I have them scheduled for 3 times a day? Can't remember really.

Then with regards to engaging with others, the same policy applies here as it does to quality comments. Click on their link, scan their blog and leave a thought out and quality reply to their tweet that shows you have read their content. Help them out like you would like to receive help. If you do this as opposed to "hey thats cool" I promise you that that person will most likely do the same for you asap.

Then with following people, I'm not talking about following one new person a day. I'm talking about following like 50 in a day :) But make it no more than 100 daily. It's not that hard. Look for a user that you really enjoy that has loads of followers and then scan them all and every one that looks interesting and in your niches click follow.

I promise you that if you follow 50 people a day you will get a good amount of followers and very fast.

Oh and every now and then I go into the list of people I follow and unfollow a whole whack of them that aren't following me, not all the don't follow me but I try and keep the amount of people that I follow and that follow me around the same.

Ugh, I hate when I type out an big message and then lose it. It has happened to me several times.

Thanks for the tips. I am definitely not following 50 people a day. It seems so time consuming being on twitter. I will try following more though and see how that works. I also find that so many people are just retweeting others. I think some accounts are set up just to retweet people.

Question about Tweet Jukebox. What kind of quotes are these? I assume they would pertain to many niches? I guess I should take a look at the site.

It honestly is really easy, well compared to other social networks. I increased my followers by over 600 in I think November just by the things I did here and I didn't spend a huge amount of time or energy... I am steadily increasing my followers. I just spend a few mins a day on Twitter.

Great information and Twitter will be my next project I think after reading this. I've found Pinterest a great platform where I have 4700 followers so far and climbing.

Thanks for this very much appreciated.

Ooh so you can tell me how on earth to get going with Pinterest and then once I have that waxed I can share some training on it?

Nice going... I don't think I even have 100 Pinterest followers but really I don't even go on there, I just pin to it and leave it. I suppose as with any social network you need to spend a bit of time to get anywhere :)

Great because once I've built up Twitter to about 5000 followers I will be doing Google Plus and then Pinterest :) Looking forward to it.

Yes, I would like to know more about Pinterest too. I'm never quite sure what to do on there.
