Companies are interested in influencers that are active on social media and on their websites - this is a biggie so if you are not on social media yet you need to get your profiles set up and start working on getting some followers.
You don't necessarily need a huge following online, as long as you have some loyal fans and readers you have something to work with.
Something that is hugely popular with companies is to work with what is called Micro Influencers - so instead of paying one person a huge amount of money to promote their products and services they will pay a little bit of money each to a lot of Micro Influencers.
The power of a person recommending something to their friends, family and followers online is incredibly strong and companies are after this.
