Have you ever tried to rename an already uploaded image or media file in Wordpress?
Well, if you did, you already know, that there is no option to change the image or media file name directly from the admin area ...
Let's say, that I have an image with an incorrect file name ... For example, "claick-to-call" instead of "click-to-call" ...
Now, if I click the "Edit" link next to the given image, a media editor window will appear, allowing me to change the media title, the caption, the ALT text and the description:
But I can't edit the actual file name!
And that's really frustrating!
More than that, inappropriate file names could hurt your SEO efforts! As we all know, when it comes to image SEO, the file name is an important factor ... Having a media title like "WA Black Friday Offer" is cool, but if the actual file name is something like DSC00123.jpg, you'll lose a lot of SEO juice!
But, don't worry, there is a solution ... And I've decided to create this short tutorial where I will show you how easy is to rename previously uploaded images and media files in Wordpress.
