As I said on the previous page, many of these writing jobs will want to see a resume and/or published writing samples before they consider hiring you for their writing jobs. Some of these writing gigs are just that, “gigs” and they are normally short term by an individual or a small company. The larger writing “jobs” are normally more long-term projects.
I would have to say that 70% of these writing jobs or gigs can be done remotely from home. Some require you to be a local resident of where the offer is coming from but for the most part you can do this from anywhere in the world, as long as you write good English.
YOUR RESUME & WRITING SAMPLES
Having a resume when looking for a job, even an online freelance writing job, is pretty self-explanatory. And you should know by now that having more than one kind of resume is very helpful. For example I have a resume that is geared towards website design and content writing, one geared towards eCommerce (eBay), and one general resume combining both.
Having multiple resumes makes it easier to target possible writing offers with a more influential sounding resume, depending on what your skills are. Now as for your writing samples, and most ask for published samples, you have a ton of them thanks to Wealthy Affiliate.
Scratching your head trying to figure out what I mean by that? Any and ALL of your Wealthy Affiliate Blogs are published writing samples because they are all indexed into Google. Send your potential employer a link to one of your best WA blogs, if it is relevant to what you are applying for. Then a really super published writing sample is your own website.
Normally if a potential employer asks to see a few of my writing samples I send them a link to my website, which contains more than enough published writing samples, and I also include a link to an eCommerce WordPress mini website I designed for a nutritional supplement company, along with one or two of my WA blogs.
NEXT UP = How Wealthy Affiliate helps you to earn moneyI've been offered an interview for a writing (kind of, a bit more) job for a Fortune 100 company in Silicon Valley 3 days ago, right after putting up my profile on one of the freelance sites, and my profile is incomplete, even now.
And it looks like i have 90%+ chance to get the job!
What I'm saying is, diversifying and thinking outside the box do work. Just by putting myself out there, opportunity found me and knocked at my door!
Get out, do something, my friends. You'll be amazed what's out there.
Freelancewriting.com also posts tons of writing opps as well, including poetry and magazine articles. Just in case anyone is interested.
