OK. Let's see some other avenues ...
3. Guest blogging
First of all, let's define the term ... Just in case ...
Guest blogging, also known as guest posting is the practice of contributing a post to another person's blog in order to build relationships, exposure, authority, and links.
And I have to tell you ... I don't like it ... I don't use it ... but the fact remains: guest blogging works. I admit, isn't as powerful as it was a few years ago, but if you do it well, it will drive a lot of traffic and it will get you noticed. And here are my tips ...
- you need to create something really unique! aim to take away some breath! a spiritless, tasteless article won’t cut it!
- pitch to a site you know gets a ton of traffic every day! there is no point guest posting on a site with no audience!
- whenever is possible, give something away! and, at the end of your post always add a CTA to attract people to your site
- try to become a regular contributor! once you’ve built trust, you'll get a constant flow of interested people visiting your site
- publishing isn't enough! you need to regularly revisit the site and reply to comments!
4. Content marketing
What? Content marketing?!
Yes! I've included content marketing in order to emphasize one idea: writing a great post or an outstanding review isn't enough ...
When it comes to traffic generation, we need to leverage every single small factor or potential opportunity ...
What I've learned ... No matter how perfect is your post, and no matter how profound and thorough is your your approach, there are always some other, additional ways you can use to market your content and to drive more traffic to your site ...
With that having said, here are a few tips ....
- create videos and upload them to your own channels on YouTube and Vimeo and make sure the videos contain references to your website; if you don’t mind people sharing your content, be sure to allow embedding
- start your own podcast series! they are very popular and they are extremely efficient on long-term
- find a relevant and popular piece of content in your niche that ranks well, and do your best to create an article that’s way better! then reach out to people linking to the original content and ask them if they’d like to link to yours instead!
- create your own micro-blogging environment on sites like Tumblr, Blogger etc; a few short posts with some nice images or interesting videos can generate considerable traffic volumes especially on long term
- create nice, appealing embeddable infographics and reach out to bloggers and website owners for shares
And so on ... These are only a few ideas ... and the only limit is your imagination. The point: there are always more other ways ...
