Tracking Pinning Dates

As on any other platform, you don't want to look as a spammer on Pinterest.

You should not pin the same pin to a same group board too frequently or put several of your pins in a row. Some people do that (especially the owners of the board), but I think it's not a good idea.

Of course, you can't remember what pin you put on what board on which date.

This is the reason for this dates tracking tool.

Every time you pin one of your pins to some board, enter the date in the table you've just created. To make the tracking even easier, I suggest using a feature called Conditional Formating.

In my version of excel it's under the Home tab.

If you can't find it, just Google "Conditional Formating" for your version.

Highlight the column with the dates (your pin dates for one particular board) and then click on "Conditional Formatting" ->> Color Scales. Pick the scale you like. I use the Red-White-Green scale, so the oldest date is green and the latest day is red.

When looking to re-pin, I pick the most green cells, as these were re-pinned longer time ago and wouldn't look as a spam on this specific board.

This is how it's going to look like:

You can notice that some of the cells are greyed out. This is because not all the pins fit every board. Some boards have narrow topics and you don't want to spam. So I just color the irrelevant cells in permanent grey. It doesn't impact the color scale on the rest of the cells.

Good stuff Mary!

I also am just now venturing into the world of Pinterest. So this will be a very useful tool to utilize as I go forward.

I also am trying to use free methods of tracking my social media activities. At least for me, I have a hard time justifying spending too much until I know what I’m doing at least somewhat. Once I master manual methods, I may look into automation tools. At that point I’ll have a better idea of what my needs are.

But until then, thank you for the spreadsheet training.

Well done!
