Use New Internal Links to Update Old Articles

Internal linking will have the greatest impact if it is combined with another SEO technique, such as updating old content.

Google crawlers index old content and see it again when you update it. This may help to increase the ranking of your site on search engine results pages.

It is a good idea to update your old articles frequently. This is a great way to update your blog articles.

  • Add a new paragraph to the beginning explaining your updates.
  • Add several new paragraphs to the text, updating or adding more information.
  • Removing or replacing outdated information or stats.
  • You can add several new links to the content you have just created.
  • Link to places that are logical and valuable.

Internal linking doesn't just involve linking new content with older content. It is also about creating links to older work and circling back at old content.

This accomplishes two things:

  • It keeps up-to-date old content, which increases its ranking value.
  • This creates an internal link between an existing page and a new page that is not so established.

Link wherever it Makes Sense

You've probably learned so much about the importance of internal linking. Now you might be wondering where to place your internal links.

It is tempting to be lazy and just throw them in at the end of the article. Please, don't do this. Or, at the very least, please don't do that.

Instead, search for areas where the subject matter overlaps. These are the points of connection that can be used to create an internal hyperlink. You can also add links to explain related topics or define complex terms.

Internal links can be thought of as a reference point that enhances the user's experience.

Only Add Dofollow Links

Your internal links should not have a nofollow tag. Nofollow links have no effect on the search engine rankings for the destination site.

Google doesn't transfer PageRank and anchor text to nofollow links. They won't be crawled. Ahrefs data has shown that nofollow links are useful when used externally. However, they should not be used in your internal linking strategy.

Hello Israel I ask you a question about internal links. The home page I would say is one of the most important in our website.
In a new article or page is it convenient to have a link to the home page and also to have a backlink?
I hope you have been able to understand the question.
Thank you Israel!

Very correct, Claudio! The homepage is the most important page on any website, yes. I think I perfectly understood your question, my friend. When you want to hit the Publish button for a new post or page, you don't have to necessarily link every new post or page to the homepage. It's better if you rather link to some crucial pages from your homepage for significant reasons.

If you need to earn backlinks, all you have to do is to link to external sites that are more authoritative than your own website. I hope I answered your question properly! If I didn't, kindly let me know, and I'll have another look into the question.
