2. A transparent and honest “About Me” page

It may sound unbelievable, but it’s still a fact: the “About” pages are almost always one of the most visited pages on any blog or website. Why? Because, people want to know that there is a human running that website. Because people want to know that the person behind your blog is someone worth paying attention to.

And I am going to rephrase it: the “About Me” page is the soul of your blog! It may sound even more incredible, but it’s true. And, I have to admit, I can’t understand a blogger who is neglecting the “About Me” page, while he/she is ready to invest – on daily basis! – a jaw-dropping amount of time and effort to create one single post or content piece …

The bottom line: the “About Me” page is an extremely important element of your blog, because your target audience cares to know who you are and wants to be able to relate to you. And let’s face it: crafting a nice and simple “About Me” page is really not rocket since … Just tell them who you are, and why that matters. Address your audience and explain why you and your blog are important to them.

Here are some – hopefully – useful thoughts:

2.1 Grab their attention from the very beginning

It’s always a good idea to open your “About Me” page with a strong and impressive statement, that perfectly captures or reflects your personality. It can be a punchy, benefit-driven headline, an interesting picture, a surprising video, etc. It’s all about providing an unexpected, awareness-raising behind-the-curtain snapshot in the very first moment.

2.2 Be honest about yourself

Painting an honest picture of yourself is crucial and mandatory. A short bio will help your readers to get a closer look at the real you. To discover and to understand the mastermind behind the stunning content creation. Also, this is the perfect place to share your core values by telling them why you launched your blog in the first place. And you don’t need over-complicate it! Just be honest, be yourself, forget false modesty, and tell them your story. If you want, you can also list your relevant achievements …

BUT, stay relevant and keep it short! Your “About Me” page is definitely about you, but is definitely not your autobiography. Your goal is to impress your readers, not to show them how narcissistic you are. Even though it’s called “About Me” page, it’s really about them, and don’t forget, that they are coming to you with pain points that you can solve! Don’t lose that target just because you are writing an “About Me” page.

2.3 Don’t leave them hanging!

Finally, close your “About Me” page with a powerful call to action! A strong call to action directs your readers on where to go next. It could be a CTA urging your readers to opt-in to your newsletter, a link to your most popular content pieces, a redirect to a specific OTO, etc. It’s completely up to you, but when you let them go, don’t send them away empty-handed.
