If you are running a single author website, then you can create a "regular" About Me page and you can simply use the default image widget to add your photo(s).
On the other hand, if you are running a multi-author website, then you'll have to display an author bio box at the end of each post. It's a very common and efficient way to show an author’s profile photo with a brief bio and some links to their website or social profiles. Here's an example:
It's simple and efficient.
But, here's the thing ... By default, most themes will display the author’s gravatar image as their author photo. Which is OK ... if they have an avatar. However, the author may not have a gravatar image ... or they simply not want to use it as an author image. In fact, many authors and guest bloggers will want to use a custom author photo for their articles.
And of course, there are many fancy author bio box plugins out there ... But, most of them are pretty "heavy" and they will have a negative impact on your site speed ...
This is why I've decided to create this short tutorial where I will show you how to easily add author photos in Wordpress without slowing down your site with fancy speed-killer plugins.
