In order to monetize your website through affiliate programs, you are going to need to understand how to properly add affiliate links.

In this video I am going to walk you through the process of adding affiliate links (in my example, WA affiliate links) to both textual content and image based content within SiteContent, as well as Wordpress.

The process is very simple once you understand it and after going through this video, you are going to have a sound understanding of the affiliate link creation process.

If you do have any questions or comments about affiliate links, please leave them below and I will be more than happy to give you a hand.

Is it possible to use the bare link to a product or to Amazon generally? (Instead of using the text or image they provide you?) I find that if I go to "text only", I can isolate the link from the code, and then share the link, but it seems that when someone purchases from that link, I don't get a commission. Any insights?

You do need to use a link with your affiliate ID attached, otherwise, you will not earn a dime from linking to Amazon

Thanks Loes. The affiliate link does have my ID in it, but for some reason I'm not earning commissions. Do you know if it has to be a link to a specific product, perhaps, instead of to Amazon generally?

It has to contain your ID, it can be linked to any page at Amazon, you get the code from Amazon, do not mess around with this code, otherwise, it will not work anymore

Is it okay to add affiliate links to pages or posts that aren't reviews? I understood that we need to write reviews and put affiliate links there. Now I am feeling a little bit confused after reading that I need to add at least 3 affiliate links to my content (course 3, lesson 4). Right now I don't have reviews.

Thanks!

Yes, as long as it is relevant to your content. I have a products page. Some of those products will link to my pages and some won't - or will be there to link to in future blogs.

Yes, you can but the ads are on your review page so you would want to do it the other way round by linking your other pages or post to your review page.

But there are no reviews yet. The training has us adding affiliate links with really no place to put them yet.

Writing reviews is one option and it is highly recommended. It is not the only way.

For example, you can write a post about your website building journey. Then explain how to get started building a free website. It would make sense to add your affiliate link pointing to the SiteRubix site -

https:// siterubix. com? a_aid= your affiliate ID

Carole (CLbrooks57) has advised you correctly that the link must be relevant to your content and offered as a way to help people find answers and solutions. ~Jude.

The affiliate link can go on any page or post you want. Do be sure to click the 'text' tab, instead of the usual 'visual' at the top right.

Good morning from Missouri! I am still having trouble getting this to work. I've followed the instructions that Kyle provided in the video, and the link appears in red on my page, but when I click it, the web page does not open. One question I have - the link that the affiliate program provided begins like this:
Chihuahua Training

Do I copy in the ENTIRE URL? starting with the <a

Hi Julie. Are you using the link button in the menu of wordpress to add your links? You should copy the url and insert a link (it looks sort of like an slanted infinity sign) and hit the little arrow and it should work perfectly!

As usual, Kyle's video is succinct and to the point. Thanks Kyle.
I have some extra information and a question.
The extra information is that Amazon has introduced a Wordpress plugin to simplify the process of keeping up with product details. Here is their blurb:
"It connects to our real-time Product Advertising API, which means that all information found in the Link Builder is current and accurate including prices, images, and product availability. Previously one needed to have programming knowledge to be able to tap into the power of the Product Advertising API, but with the Link Builder plugin the heavy lifting’s already been done."

That looks really powerful, and a timesaver.

My question is: Has anybody on here used the plugin, or added their own interface (requires programming experience, which I have) to access the Amazon API? If so, what is your opinion about using them as opposed to manually keeping track of of the continued accuracy of your associate links?

Thanks,

Bill

I haven't done that, but I bet others here have. Try asking that question in the query bar at the top of the page. You may find blogs and/or tutorials on the subject.
