Computer Vision Syndrome
While the jury is still out on the effects of working with computers, laptops, etc. for excessive periods, there is no doubt that they create effects like blurred vision, shoulder and back pain, fatigue, headaches and dry eyes.
Digital eye strain or computer vision syndrome is what describes the effects of extended digital screen use. It does cause some or all of the above.
Your eyes have muscles, just like your body does. If you are using muscles to look at your close-up didgital screens, you will be focusing closer to your eyes and using those muscles mostly.
It would help a lot if you stretch and strengthen your other eyes muscles, as you would the body muscle that you use infrequently.
Stretch Your Eye Muscles
Try this exercise during the day:
Move away from your digital screen and focus on a far away object. If it is outdoors, it will be even better. Look towards the futrthest thaing that you can see and allow your eyes a few minutes to focus clearly on it.
Blink a few times.
After a few minutes, look at something closer and bring that into focus.
Now close your eyes and relax.
Repeat.
Your eyes are now ready to return to the bright lights of your digital device.
Remeber to get your eyes tested, especially if your wear corrective lenses.
Instead of fighting your body´s natural routines, adjust and get in sync with your own body´s rythm. The benfits from small changes in routine, like the ones you describe, is quite big. I know from own experience.
Thank you for sharing,Cassi :-)
