Everyone Loves a FREEBIE - right?
The great thing about giveaways, is that people love the idea of getting something for nothing.
What kind of prizes work best?
- Prizes that can be shared with a friend, or partner or even a 'treat your Mum, Dad, Grandparent etc' (cause that makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside!
- Something we don't have to think too hard about to know we want it, or will benefit from it.
- A prize that is easy to deliver to the winner!!! (Gift vouchers, ebooks, digital access to software etc are good examples of this)
- A prize that feels a little self-indulgent, we'd love it, but wouldn't necessarily go out and buy it for ourselves (eg: if you're in the photography niche, it could be a glamour shoot, or framed prints etc).
BUT...
- Choose a prize that's super specific to YOUR niche and the type of person you are trying to engage with.
For example, if your niche is small dog clothing, your prize or giveaway should reflect this. Some ideas could be:
- ebooks or downloadable resources relevant to small dogs eg: small dog training, treats, clothing, small dog fashion this summer etc.
- Small dog treat gift package
- A voucher at a pet store or Amazon
Don't choose a generic prize like a FitBit, iPad etc, as you'll end up getting everyone and anyone entering which is not going to help you grow your niche audience in the long run. You really want the prize to appeal to your niche, but exclude anyone whose unlikely to be a customer down the track.

Great marketing strategy. I use to use Raffle Copter for the same thing and drove a ton of new members into our social network using contest. No longer have the social network but it's a great way to boost blog subscribers as well.
