Lesson 1: Writing an Article of 2000 Words
Here’s how we will start.
I will use the example of writing a 2000 word article as a simple illustration.
Let's say you intend to write an article of 2000 words, and have found a great low hanging fruit keyword to write that article around.
Great start. Now you need to roll up your sleeves and plan your keyword strategy for that article.
1. For posts and articles, the Keyword Density Sweet Spot falls somewhere approximately between 1/3 of 1% and 1.5% (0.003%-1.5%).
I've found to be safe (and to make sure I have enough instances), I err slightly higher to about 0.00333%.
You can also simply divide the number of keyword appearances (instances) by the total number of words to get the Keyword Density (KD = KA / TW)
2. Following this formula, a 2000 word article requires you to use your keyword a minimum of 7 times. (2000 × 0.00333 = 6.667. Round that up to 7).
If you have a plugin like Yoast SEO (which is what I use), it will do all of this work for you. So if you loathe simple calculation, use the plugin!
But let’s say you don't use such a plugin.
Here is what you should do.
When you are ready, go to Lesson 2 of my training.
Approx 2500 words and having just reviewed it including meta title and description I only used the keyword 6 times and twice in the last 2 paragraphs!
I have edited and included it 3 more times in the first 50% of the post and also added an internal link (as recommended by Jay)
I have just resubmitted to google so lets see if we can be higher than page 7. I will let you know
