Lesson 2: Execute your SEO Keyword Strategy
Do the math.
3. First calculate the minimum number of instances you will need for your keyword in your article.
As by my previous example, a 2000 word article requires you to use your keyword a minimum of 7 times. (2000 × 0.00333 = 6.667. Round that up to 7.).
Now ideally, you should place that keyword in your Title, your Meta Title, your Meta Description, and in your permalink (slug).
*Note: To all Newbies, the Meta Title and Meta Description are not part of your article, but are both very importnat components Google uses to rank your article; it is the title and description your searchers will see on a Google page (or any of the other search engines) when your listing comes up after their Search query.
Here is an example of one of my WA articles meta title and description in Google on Page 1:
4. Limit your Meta description to 155 characters, with your keyword in the beginning half of it. If you use Yoast SEO, it will tell you if you go over this limit.
The keyword in the Title of your article only counts as one time. Keep in mind, you will need to place your keyword in your article a minimum of 6 more times.
5. Next place the 2nd instance of your low hanging fruit keyword in the beginning of the first paragraph of your content.
6. Write the rest of your content naturally.
7. Make sure to include your low hanging fruit keyword within your last paragraph.
Basing this on the minimum number of instances, this will be your 7th instance of your keyword, which we have already calculated this from the minimum keyword density for your article (0.00333).
*Note: There may be a greater # of instances that you decide to use your keyword in your article - up to the keyword instance maximum (in an article of 2000 words in this case, 30 times or 1.5%)
Now let's move on to Lesson 3.
Approx 2500 words and having just reviewed it including meta title and description I only used the keyword 6 times and twice in the last 2 paragraphs!
I have edited and included it 3 more times in the first 50% of the post and also added an internal link (as recommended by Jay)
I have just resubmitted to google so lets see if we can be higher than page 7. I will let you know
