Ban short and promotional articles from your mind and from your
directories FOREVER!
Have you been told to write ridiculously short articles with a huge resource box content that promote your product in 300 words? If your answer is yes, you must stop doing this IMMEDIATELY for your own good.
This erroneous technique is an old one that is really not
working anymore, and I am not sure that it ever did for most internet marketers. What I do know is that it never did work for
me. What does work for me is longer
articles with informative content and smart resource box.
The best article would be an article that satisfies the reader while making him hungry for more. You should always write your articles with this in mind. If you do, you will see a greater success with your articles without fail.
Here are some pointers to help you:
Avoid PLR articles
If you are using PLR (private label rights) articles, you should better make sure to rewrite a good 90% of these articles. PLR articles are NOT unique. They are used and reused articles and, NO, there is nothing unique about them. They are used by a large number of people, so you can imagine how many times that content has been around and seen by people before.
Considering that it takes just as much time to rewrite an article than just writing it, you are better off not to bother with PLR articles at all.
Add a personal touch
It is my experience that PLR articles will prevent you to be fully creative when you are writing, since you will rather follow the guideline of that PLR article.
Your articles should have your personal touch. You are probably not the only person writing about your product, so make sure that you are making your articles stand out. This is possible only if you put your personal touch in your writing. Find a way to convey your information creatively; this will help you stand out from the pack.
Be an expert
Learn to speak from an expert perspective. That's how your readers will see you. Whether you are an expert in your niche or not yet, your readers see you as such, because you did the writing.
This is why you should get as educated as you can in your niche. If you are writing about a new niche it is better that you do not let the reader know that you are new at this. There is nothing wrong with being new, but let say that you write an article today saying "I am still new at this", remember your article is here to stay, and a year or two from now people reading your article will think that you are still new. Problem is that you wouldn't be new anymore and you certainly wouldn't want people to think that you are. See my point here?
Do not write about the specific product
Whatever you are selling, do not write about the product. It will not serve you or your product by any means. If you want to be successful in article marketing, you really need to understand that you will be much more successful if you write about your general niche than to write about your specific product. Your product is for your resource box only. Even there, you have to be smart about it. We will talk about the resource box later.
Be careful when sourcing your articles
When using a ghostwriter make sure that the article in 100% unique and that you have 100% of the rights to the article. Make sure all the guidelines are followed and make sure that you edit the article as much as if you'd written the article yourself. (Ghostwriters do make mistakes too, even when they get paid lots of money for it).
