Now let's talk plug-ins...NO, not another plug-in!?!? :(

Relax. The 2 plug-ins we will be dealing with are going to make your life a whole lot easier and they will not slow down your website...promise. That's because unlike say the ALL-IN-ONE SEO which has to be left activate, so it can continually perform its function, these plug-ins are not used that way.

You leave them installed, so they are there when you need them, but you activate on an "as needed" basis, then leaved them deactivated the rest of the time.

The first one is really an "extra" value added service I am throwing into this tutorial because it is such a valuable tool and is an important part of the story. It is called:

DUPLICATE POST

This is how I created my new Meet the Authors page from my old About Us page.

1. From your dashboard left hand menu, select Plug-ins, Add New:

2. Type the words DUPLICATE POST into the new plugin search box and click the search icon, if it doesn't automatically perform the search.

3. Select the plug-in that is shown above. Note 273 reviews, 5 stars, 1+ million active installs, updated recently and compatible with our current WP version (at the time of this tutorial)...it doesn't get any better than that...think this might be a useful plug-in? I think so!

4. Click the install button.

5. Activate the plug-in...so settings to bother with...I like that!

6. Below is an example of how this works. When you click on you list of pages or posts (works the same way with both), you will notice 2 new options along with the standard ones: Clone and New Draft.

7. Select New Draft (clone would immediately create a new duplicate published page and we definitely don't want that). Now you have a completely new draft page to work with that is a duplicate of the previous page in all respects...except...even if the original had comments, the new draft will not.

What's so great about that?

Let's say you have a really great article or post...the format really works for you. You like the layout, where the images are positioned, where your Ad Sense ads are placed, and perhaps you like to end each post with the same "sign-off" and of course, your personal signature.

With a New Draft...all you do is change your title, cut and paste your new paragraphs in with your new unique content and links, swap a few images and BAM!...another winning article...ready to hit the publish button! Especially helpful if you are doing a series of related articles, or a lot of part 2, part 3...that sort of thing.

How's that for helping your productivity!

All I did was to change my draft title to: Meet the Authors...made a few quick updates...and ready to publish! Well, not quite.

There's still that little issue of comments to fix...let's continue:

DO NOT delete an old page before you move your comments!

Well, I needed that! I have a section in my website where posts have to look similar in structure, this will do it. And I'm sure I'll be needing the comments trick in the future :)

It may not be something that comes up every day, but it can be a handy thing to know for very specific circumstances, such as I outlined in the introduction...thanks, Gregory! :)

I love the GIF!! I took liberty of stealing it. Lol. This is excellent training and in my early days of mentoring was a major issue at straightening out the website structure .

Thanks for great training, Chris!
