As I said on the previous page, the steps for inserting links within your comments is pretty much the same between doing so within Site Comments or within the WordPress comments area. There is only one small nuance that is different when inserting links in WordPress comments.
USING WORDPRESS COMMENTS
In the image above I was replying to a comment on my baseball affiliate programs review. The commenter was surprised that the sport and specific team he enjoyed watching could actually be a niche. I went on to explain how even a TV show like Star Trek can be a niche too.
Seeing how I knew that I did a review of Star Trek affiliate programs, I wanted to link to that review within my comment reply. As seen above, I used my mouse pointer to highlight the words Star Trek. This anchor text explains what the link is about.
In the image above, I go to the comment functions menu at the top of the comment area just below where it says Reply to Comment. I clicked on the button that says link and this will now bring up the Insert/Edit Link pop up interface as seen in below image.
The steps to insert the link into your comment reply is the same as on the previous page. Copy, search or choose the URL you wish to link to and get it into the URL field. Again, it is up to you if you want to click the checkbox for opening link in a new tab window. Now click Add Link.
This is the slight difference between WordPress and Site Comments. In the image above you can see that after I inserted the link to my Star Trek affiliate programs review, the link appears as HTML code within the reply. This is normal and will not appear this way when published.
After you approve your comment that HTML code will appear as a normal blue text link as can be seen in the image above. Now when someone clicks that link they will go to my review on Star Trek affiliate programs. You can see the entire reply in the image below.
NEXT UP = When you should and should not insert affiliate links
Most of my comment replies are made without links to other pages or products. But, when it comes up in the reply, I will add a link to more information - or, a product that I recommend - to give the commenter more to go on. I don't think too much about keeping links to 10% or less - but, it probably works out that way.
The one thing that bugs me is my theme automatically makes my links red. I can change them in my posts to the familiar blue, but, SiteComments and WordPress don't give me that option for the comment section. Any ideas on that?

I believe backlinks still play some roles but as you mention it has to be from sites that have higher authority(Not necessary Wikipedia).
I believe Google is going to slowly reduce its importance but for brand new websites how do they judge the value of the site?
I believe it still comes back to the number of quality links + brand mentions online + engagement.
