Is All in One WP Migration Free?

All in One WP Migration is free for backup, no matter what the size.

It's free to restore from backup files up to 128MB (which would be a very small site). However, you can install a free update that increases that to 512MB and a paid update that increases it to unlimited.

You can get the unlimited update from servmask.com at a cost of $69. It can be used on any number of websites.

Note that you only need it if you need to restore from a backup file larger than 512MB.

Which means you may never need it.

Unfortunately, Phil, I am finding that this procedure no longer works for me. The plugins seem to be blocked by WA.
If you have an opportunity, I would like to hear if you or anyone else has encountered these problems.
I tried another solution called Updraft and received the same error saying it was blocked. I could not even activate the plugin.
I tried to copy through FTP using Filezilla and received a message that over 5000 out of roughly 7800 files failed to copy to the destination drive.
I have since contacted site support to ask what solution will work. I am waiting on a response.

Best regards, Matt

WA advised some time ago that they were blocking backup plugins. I disagreed with them but understood their reasons, as some users have little idea of what they are doing and overload the server.

I have around 30 websites with some half of them hosted at WA. WA unblocked the backup plugin on all of them at my request.

You need to contact Site Support and ask them to unblock the plugin. Assure them you will delete old backups from the server. Ask me if you don't know how to do this.

FileZilla, while a great program, is not a suitable solution for backup.

Hey Phil,

I performed all the steps you have outlined in this lesson, but I have some questions about how to open the file after it's downloaded to my computer.

Are you familiar with what app or program I'll need to open the files on my computer once it's been downloaded?

Help is much appreciated!

You don't need to open them, Barbara,

Just keep them so you can restore your website in an emergency or transfer it to another web host.

You use the same plugin to restore as you did to back up.

A timely subject, with the new version of WP just out. Yes, I updated today. I use the UpdraftPlus plugin, which was recommended to me by a couple of people. It does a fine job.

Marion Black recommends backing up your site every day, and I can understand why. If you do it every day, you are much less apt to see your hard work destroyed because you just didn't bother. That would indeed be distressing.

I looked at Updraft years ago, but found its restore unreliable and that is in fact the most important aspect of a backup/restore app. It may of course be fine now and I'll explore that as a separate issue. But I've done lots of restores with AIO WP Migration without any issues.

I backup my sites as soon as I've made a change I'd hate to lose.
