When doing research for this training, I came across a very good example of using lists to find your passions. So, let's start with our lists!
1. List all the skills you feel you are very good at....
These can be any kind of skills. Don't hold back. Write everything you can think of. They can be work, home or personally related. The idea is to get as many on this list as possible.
2. List all the hobbies and other interests you may have..
Is there anything you have always wanted to try? Maybe it's Wine Tasting or playing tennis. For instance, I love the water. My passion is anything to do with being in the water. I have always wanted to scuba dive but have never gotten the chance. List all of these types of things.
3. List your life goals....
To me, this step is the hardest. You have to really put on your thinking cap for this one. When we think of goals, we usually talk about success at work, own a house or that one perfect car. However, maybe you have other life goals instead like becoming a really good piano player.
Now that you have your three lists. Start matching up the common areas in all three. These items that match all three will be items you are really passionate about. You are good at it! You want to do it and it interests you! It is one of your life goals! How perfect can you get?
When we search for our passion, we are really searching for our purpose in life, and as you say, conquering our fear or not letting fear get in the way is a vital part of it.
I have a slightly different take on "passion" which I convey on my WA blog - Do You Need Passion To Succeed.
Some passions are meant to be for us only to nurture our souls; and some passions are meant to be shared with the world, and, yes, maybe even become our livelihood or business. ~Jude
