Stage Four – Getting more Facebook Page Likes

There isn’t much point having a Facebook page if no-one follows you, so you should gather new ‘Likes’ whenever possible.

A good way of doing this is by having a lightbox pop-up on your website. When people like your page, they will now get notified about future posts through facebook.

Install and activate the plugin, Facebook Page Promoter Lightbox by Arevico.

You will now have an extra option on your WordPress dashboard

In the next window; Add your page id, and change the ‘show every x days’ to 3

TIP: if you can’t find your page id number, paste your full Facebook page URL in thishandy app

Thats it, your WordPress / Facebook automation is good to go.

That is it, if you followed this tutorial from the beginning you will have;

  • A Facebook Fan Page
  • Automated posting from WordPress to Facebook Fan Page
  • A Facebook 'Like' Lightbox on your WordPress site.

Hopefully everything went smoothly and I explained each stage so that it was easy to understand, if not please leave me comments below and I will amend as necessary.

Regards
Paul

Thanks Paul. I'm not ready for this yet, but I love the fact that you show the pictures of what to do. For some reason I find facebook a little scary. I have a chronically unusual surname, easy to find, so I am careful about posting it around. At the moment I am just getting used to using facebook slowly. Many thanks again for the tutorial.

Thanks for sharing, Paul. I used my siterubix.com to create apps as developer but it gave me an error. I guess it's time to have my own domain and be able to set this up soon -- got it in my "To Do" list now.

Excellent tutorial. Have you done any kind of testing to determine if the lightbox upsets any visitors making them leave? Thanks

Hi Roger, not specifically no. I have this setup on some of my sites and haven't particularly noticed any change in bounce rates. It is easy enough for the visitor to click the X and dismiss the lightbox - I set it show them it only once every three days so it is not overly intrusive. I get your point though. Thanks for your comment, Paul
