LESSON 3: General Settings
In case you missed it in Lesson 2, click on this "Account Settings" link to find your account settings page.
The most important general settings on this list are your name, password, email and username.
1. NAME
This is where you can change your name and surname. This is not your username. You will notice my username is RikaSF, but my name is Rika.
The username (see no 4 below) is obviously visible to other WA members. Your name is also visible to WA members, but NOT your surname.
If you hover on someone's profile image you can see the real name they have provided.
A lot of users have a completely different username than their real name. I like to use real names when I leave comments and normally hover over the profile image to get the name.
I'm not including an image because the hover option is not available on your own profile image.
Give it a try and see if you can find someone's real name. Leave me a comment if you're having difficulty finding a real name with the hover option.
2. PASSWORD
This is where you can change your password. I suggest you change it every couple of months or when you suspect someone else might have access to your password.
PS: Anyone with access to your WA password also has access to all your websites.
3. EMAIL
You can change your email address here. If you have your email notifications enabled all emails from WA will go to this email address.
Tip: The more people you follow the more emails you will receive. If by any chance you used someone else's email address or a work email address to sign up, I suggest you rather change it to a more appropriate email address only you have access to.
4. USERNAME
You can only change your username once. Make the best of it. There are a couple of very good reasons why you should consider a few things before chaning your username.
See this very helpful post written by Egon back in 2014:
How to Choose Username? And How to Benefit From It?
I have also written a post in 2018 and highly recommend you have a look at it before changing your username:
Why Your Wealthy Affiliate Profile Username, Image and Description Matters
5. JAAXY AFFILIATE ID
You can find your Jaaxy affiliate link on the Jaaxy dashboard under the "Affiliate Program" tab.
Copy and paste only the part after = to the Jaaxy affiliate ID in the WA general settings.
6. TIME ZONE
In this section you can change the time zone that is applicable to you. The only problem is not all the time zones are available. If you cannot find your time zone use the time zone closest to your time zone.
7. AUTOMATIC LOG IN FROM EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS
This option is turned on by default. This means say for example you logout of WA and want to look at posts by members you receive in your email inbox, you will automatically be loggged back into WA.
You can decide whether you want this option turned on or off.
Tip: I recommend you turn this off if you are not the only one using the email account or other people also have access to your computer and emails.
Keep in mind you have to physically log out of WA for this function to work. I will also reccommend you log out everytime if you are not the only person using your computer.
8. MOBILE RESPONSIVE MODE
Keep this on. No need to turn it off.
9. SHOW TRAINING HEADER
My training header is set as OFF, but I do recommend new members keep it ON. It shows your progress and are located at the top of any WA pages.
Yours may look different from the image above, depending on what your progress are.

Jeff
My goodness, this is a great training! So much information. All gathered up and handy!
Thanks,
Sami
I find it very useful, especially to the newbies.
I remember when I joined WA, you posted a good one about Wealthy affiliate Bios. It changed my attitude towards building an affiliate marketing website as I was somewhat feeling uncomfortable to do it. But after following your advice, I began to see the online world differently.
Keep up the good work!
