Resizing your larger bulkier images can reduce your page loading time significantly, especially if you are a blogger that like to be visual and use a lot of images.

The benefit of this is user experience, due to faster page loading times and of course, google considers your site speed as a factor in rankings.

To do this automatically, we are going top use a free plugin called IMsanity, an abbreviation of Image sanity.

Image sanity can both bulk resize images for you for previously uploaded images, automatically resize images for future images that you upload and convert BMP and PNG to Jpeg.

It is set and forget plugin. Once uploaded it requires no action on your part, other than possible initial bulk resizing of images

The link below will take you to the plugin page

Simply just upload and activate.

This is great Derek, thank you. You know your other training from yesterday which was also very useful, do we need both of them? I'm a bit confused by the difference between "optimising" and "reducing the size" of images...

Hi Ray,

Good question

Image optimising reducing the file size.i.e from 640kb to 200kb (as an example)

Image resizing reducing the physical size of the image from 640 x 480 to 427 x 327 (as an example)

Thanks for asking.

Thanks Derek,
So sounds like it's good to use both plugin (?), first you reduce the physical size of the image, inevitably reducing the file size...then reduce the size even more by "optimizing" I guess? Thanks again, I'll try it!

You could get away with using just IMsanity but it's ability to compress is nowhere as near as good as short pixel.

Haven't used this one. I use Caesium if I do a bulk resize.

Thank you kindly. I like this one because it is ultra light weight.
