Welcome to another of my trainings on Wordpress
This training will guide you through the whole of the, All In One SEO Pack set up procedure so you can get the maximum benefits from this plugin
The first step to setting up a wordpress site is to choose between a static home page or a blog roll, this is really a personal choice and you need to choose what ever makes you feel comfortable. Its your site so you must set it up the way you want it
Once you have made this decision, the set up of your All In One SEO Pack can begin so without further ado lets get started
To get started click on the general settings, if this is your first time setting this up, yours will not look like the image above, as it is not yet configured and all the features will not yet be activated.
Home Page Settings
In order to set up your home page titles, you can choose the title of your home page, try to make it catchy in order to attract peoples eyes in the SERP'S (Search Engine Results Page).
You can get some of keywords in the title if you wish. If you leave this section blank the "All In One SEO Pack" will use the default title for your website.
In the home description you get a chance to provide a description of your site and what it is all about, in addition to this you can get some of your keywords in the "SERP'S". Don't go overboard with keywords though and ensure your description make sense.
If you choose a static home page then click the radio button as shown below
If you choose a static home page you will be able to use the meta title and description boxes at the bottom of your page within the dashboard. Where you can choose a unique title and description for your site
This is my home page meta settings
Title Settings
Within the section you can set up global title formats for all your your posts and pages. Every time you generate a page or post. Wordpress allocates a <title> this allows the plugin to overwrite the title and put in the correct format that you have set
The format here is for my home page and then for all my posts and other pages
Home page = Just the title -
Page format = Page title followed by blog title
Post format =Post title followed by blog title
Below is an example
Post Title = How To Use Permalinks in WordPress- Ultimate Guide
Blog Title = WP CliniK
.
This is now set for all my posts so they appear in the SERPS in the same format, and of course I can get my keywords in my title, my permalink and my description
Custom Post Settings
Most people don't use this, so if you don't need it just leave it as it is, however some of you might want to use it. Custom posts are a way of describing different types of content
The content most of us use is called, standard content but there are other types of content that need to be described in a very specific way for SEO purposes
Examples of custom post content
Product pages in e-commerce sites
Sliders displaying images
Movie Listings pages
You can also create custom taxonomies for your product pages, taxonomies are ways of describing sections of content, A category is a taxonomy for example. If you had a really big e-commerce site you may want to set up more complex taxonomies for all your products and product pages.
To do this requires an additional plugin that goes with this one its called
The Custom Post Type UI Plugin
If you just have a normal site like most of us, then you can just leave this section as it is.
