The New Signals

Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) examines the page load time. The LCP measures how fast a page loads. Keep in mind that Google likes a webpage that loads fast. So to ensure a good user experience, the LCP should take place 2.5 seconds from the time the page starts to load.

In simpler words, it has to deal with what time it will take a webpage to load? This is the first metric on most Lighthouse reports.

Interactivity

The signal tested with this is the FID (First Input Delay). The FID measures the time from which users interact with a specific webpage (by clicking on the page link) to the time the browser responds to the interaction.

For a good user experience, the page’s FID shouldn’t be up to 100 milliseconds. In short, it implies how long will it take until you can click on the page element?

Visual Stability

The metrics tested with this is the CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift). It tests for the visual stability of your page element. The CLS of a page should be less than 0.1 for a good user experience.

This also involves testing for a page shift whenever a pop-up loads. If your page has this, you have failed the test.

A very interesting read Israel, it's so important for us to keep up to date with the changes that Google seem to be rolling out more frequently at the moment.

Excellent information that you have shared with us. Google increases every time its nose to select websites. We will also have to make an effort to comply with all directives that Google will take into account. Thank you very much Israel!

Most welcome,Kingschido! Glad it came in handy! We need to prepare against May 2021 lest the Page Experience update hurts our ranking. Thanks again!

Excellent good info Israel, I think I am still getting my head around the other one at December. The "authority" issue on anything health related and perception of that authority is still hitting some people hard. It seems to trump any mobile or speed issues. Any thoughts welcome on that. All the best, Phil

Glad you found my Page Experience Update post excellent, Phil! Achieving the authority status in any given niche is quite achievable with the daily, little efforts we put in. And the health niche isn't an exception. If there's something else you want me to clarify, kindly elaborate more on your question. Thanks for contributing!
