Chrome's Developer Tools: Lighthouse Report

This is the first tool we will consider. In a period of two minutes, with Chrome, you get a report for all the signals on the page you want to check.

You can also review Google’s Search Central Documentation to know the way each Page Experience signal is checked. How does one use Chrome's Developer Tool?

1. Go to the page you want to test, and then press F12 to bring the Developer Tools

Whether you are into web developing, or you are a business owner or a marketer, you can fully use the developer tool. This developer tool is easy to use and get comfortable with.

In the Developer Tool, there are many tabs. Go down by your right, and you will see the Lighthouse. Click on it and you’ll get a usability result without leaving your page

2. On the Lighthouse, click on “Generate Report” and wait a few seconds

After a few seconds, you will get something like what you see below, from the Lighthouse report.

  • Performance reports
  • SEO reports
  • Accessibility reports
  • Best Practices reports

(Not in order as it is)

Under each report listed above, you get in-depth information about your page.

  • The LCP (Load Time) of your page
  • Its Interactivity (First Input Delay)
  • The Visual Stability (Cumulative Layout Shift)
  • How accessible your page is
  • How mobile-friendly it is
  • List of pop-ups that make accessibility an issue
  • Any security risks.

This way, you see how your site correlates to the requirements of the search algorithm.

Website Quality Audit

For this algorithm update, if you are looking for something more SEO-focused than the Lighthouse Report, you can opt for the Website Quality Audit.

Google Search Console

This is the third tool we will consider, in order to check on your web vitals. Recently, Google has been adding features to the Search Console so that it is possible to review Core Web View.

Google Search Console, unlike the Lighthouse Report, gives a quick view of how your page is, under those signals. This also allows you to locate the areas where your problems are.

Although the Search Console isn’t detailed as the Lighthouse, you can use it to find problematic URLs. Meanwhile, you can also use the Lighthouse to get detailed information about each URL.

A very interesting read Israel, it's so important for us to keep up to date with the changes that Google seem to be rolling out more frequently at the moment.

Excellent information that you have shared with us. Google increases every time its nose to select websites. We will also have to make an effort to comply with all directives that Google will take into account. Thank you very much Israel!

Most welcome,Kingschido! Glad it came in handy! We need to prepare against May 2021 lest the Page Experience update hurts our ranking. Thanks again!

Excellent good info Israel, I think I am still getting my head around the other one at December. The "authority" issue on anything health related and perception of that authority is still hitting some people hard. It seems to trump any mobile or speed issues. Any thoughts welcome on that. All the best, Phil

Glad you found my Page Experience Update post excellent, Phil! Achieving the authority status in any given niche is quite achievable with the daily, little efforts we put in. And the health niche isn't an exception. If there's something else you want me to clarify, kindly elaborate more on your question. Thanks for contributing!
