10 Years at Wealthy Affiliate - What a Journey

Time goes by so fast. I can't believe I have been here for 10 years. It seems like only a short while ago I was signing up for my first month at $19.

I came to find out about WA from the Bum Marketer (who is still getting a yearly referral payment from my account) website when I was being let go from my day job. I was frantically looking to earn money and came upon the idea of affiliate marketing.

I was already thinking about setting up an eBay store as I was used to it from my day job and thought using a website to drive traffic was a good idea.

So I started on a pursuit of knowledge trying to get all the information I could on how to get traffic to my eBay store.

Meanwhile, I managed to secure another day job from a friend as maternity cover for one of his employees. So after doing the daily grind I had to study at night and work on my eBay store.

So from there, I managed to keep my day job when the employee came back to work as I had opened up an eBay store for them showing that products they sold across the counter could also be sold online. Something they hadn't thought about.

Once they saw the potential they asked me to stay on and help with that plus general accounting and day-to-day admin which I was more than glad to do. So I didn't have the same urgency to grom my own online store but I managed to keep plugging away in the evenings.

I worked on social platforms to grow my traffic and decided to change my domain which had a drastic effect on my website. Read more about what took place here.

So a couple of years went by as I grew my eBay store and worked on the website.

Although progress was very slow as inventory management on eBay took up a lot of my time that plus the daily orders that needed processing and shipping.

However, the store was making some money which I put back into buying more inventory to sell. After all my day job took care of the bills so I just wanted to build.

Along the way to building, I was approached by a shopkeeper in the same niche who wanted to combine our efforts online.

Another success my skills learned here at Wealthy Affiliate had provided another opening which I jumped at.

He had access to so many more manufacturer accounts than me and was prepared to do the daily shipping if I worked the back end.

That process lasted a few years and then I was offered another day job. A wholesaler had heard about my online work and wanted to know if I would help them build a B2B (business to business) website.

It's a great feeling to be headhunted and I was happy to join them on their journey for more exposure online. You can read more about this here

So while working on the B2B website for my day job I would work in the evenings on my website and after the joint venture parted ways I had to change the links from the eBay store to affiliate marketing. (I didn't remove all of them at first but later on, my partner decided it was too much work for him and he closed down the store)

Re-writing content and setting up for affiliate marketing took longer than I'd hoped and when I was complete I didn't see much improvement in the affiliate sales the site was making.

That's when I came across Dylans training and decided to follow his process. After a few months, things were brighter.

Anyway, I have been working on that original website have outsourced a writer and now have a second website on the go.

Apart from the financial sidelines Wealthy Affiliate and its training have helped land me two day jobs. One building an eBay store and the other building and maintaining a B2B website.

The business has gone from strength to strength since we got the website running and through the Covid pandemic, we have grown and grown.

Things are looking good and for me, the decision to join WA 10 years ago was a good one.

Ok, I haven't made my fortune but I have a steady income and a decent day job. I have made several mistakes and learned a lot along the way so I'm hoping my new website will be fruitful.

So if you are thinking about joining a premium wealthy affiliate membership then fear not as money can be made you just need to work at it.
