Driving traffic using Facebook

With over 1 Billion profiles on Facebook and it being the 2nd most visited website in the world just after google its easy to see why businesses and marketers use Facebook to drive traffic to their sites and links.

Its all well and good posting a few status updates with a link to your website and hoping your friends and connections see it and click to visit, but Facebook has so much more to offer. I personally use several methods in order to drive traffic each and every day from Facebook to my sites.

One mistake which many Internet Marketers make is forgetting that Facebook is a social network, first and foremost Facebook users are there to socialize and network. Visiting websites and then buying/opting in to offers, so its key that relationships are built, trust is earned and value is provided.

Compare these two status updates

"Click this link and buy my training guide on how to be better at golf" Then your link to the sales/opt in page.

Or

"I just published a post on how to significantly increase your golf drive by at least 50 yards and by just changing 3 key things" Then your link to the blog post.

Now I am not much of a golf fan and dont play but assume that every golf player would want to increase their drive by 50 yards right?

So the first example would be a link straight to the sales page or an opt in form, I see this example used all the time on Facebook and pretty much every where else.

Whereas you can see straight away that the second post link is going to provide value for FREE, which is what people want. So golf players are much likely going to click that link and read the post. Now within that post will be some valuable information on how to increase their drive, BUT also a link within the post to a training ebook on more advanced Golf improvement. If your readers get value from the post they are much more likely to trust you and even buy the training ebook, resulting in you earning commissions!

People dont come on Facebook to spend money, so you have to provide value and earn trust.

Worth remembering,thanks

Nicely said! I will keep this in mind.

Thank you for sharing.

Good point.
You can have all the traffic in the world to your site, but if you don't create trust and value they leave without buying. People only buy from people they trust, know or like.

Don’t ask for an action if you don’t have demonstrated enough value throughout the text.

Good point!
