Big Bug Trouble in Big Bug Google+

Dear fans and Readers,

Google accelerates its shutdown, since a new bug was plaguing Google+ for consumers in November!

Another API bug was causing over 52 million users a headache as the bug allowed access to users private data, even if that data was not available to the public, so Google has no other choice as to close all Google+ API's within the next 3 months. This is now the second bug in a short time, October was another bug issue. In spring this year it even caused a privacy scandal in the news as Google held this bug hidden to the public as it was known since 2015.

Google hopes developers will have enough time to make their changes to plugins and themes.

The business edition of Google+ will continue to exist. Make sure you have a Google+ business account. If not check it out and upgrade as soon as possible.

Stay Safe!

Stefan, ToLiNoLi

Yeah, when resources flee from such a complex platform like Google +, you are going to start to run into lots of issues like they are experience.

Without a dedicated team and a vast team working on and monitoring G+, technology seems to deprecate very quickly.

Hopefully plugin/developers can adjust to this, but if they were sitting on their hands after the initial announcement than it is partly their tardiness.

Given the fact that we see another security vulnerability, highlighted so soon, it seems that Google has already lost control and credibility in the security of the G+ platform.

That said, what is your view on the push to switch to a Google+ for a business account? I understand from what I read that Google+ posts are indexed by Google Search almost instantly but is it negated by the fact that the general public will not have a Google+ Account from April onwards?

Best Regards
Nick

lol Kyle, never heard of the term: "nothing comes for free"? From the beginning of time since we have Google and other social platforms it was known that you have no privacy and all that you post will be used for selling to third parties, well my teacher told me, guess he was right then.

So at that time you just post what you want to share. Now the cat is out of the bag. :))

Maybe good for your Google ranking? ;-)

Thanks for sharing,
I’ve given up and discontinued my account. Too many other social media platforms available to waste my time dealing with the problems on that one.
KyleAnn

Hi KyleAnn,

I believe staying signed up with Google is essential and will influence your Google ranking, I mean it can make sense...

Everything this morning is crash on my Google account lost everything Thank Goodness for FireFox The Biggest search Engine someone is going to get fired.

Wow, are you sure you didn't get hacked, did you had 2 way verification on? (Google sends you a code per sms when you want to login, I can only urge everyone to use it)

I got everything using code my Computer is not Hack I check I did an upgrade on my security Gave it more protection And I added security on my WiFi someone was getting to that and I found out who too. I shut them down you should see the piss off women watching her storm through her house mad. It's was like watching free TV

If a computer gets infected with Malware, it is possible someone can take over your computer without you notice it and hack your accounts, or bots are trying to guess your password.

What I mean is, Turn 2-Ways Verification On! They send you a sms and that is the best way to protect your account. So if someone enters the correct password, the next step is they must enter the correct code you get per sms, well it is unlikely they will get hands on your phone too, right? (unless it would be infected with malware too, but let's assum your are safe.... :)) use anti virus / anti malware on pc and mobile)

Yup I have all that

Thanx for the info, Stefan.

Hi Carol,

Nice in seeing you. How are things going for you so far? :))

I'm still working on getting unpacked, organized, and settled in my new home, but so thankful I wasn't on the mountain when we got this storm. We had about 12 inches of snow here in town, and the mountain probably got 18-20. I was always snowed in for days with just 6 inches of snow, because they don't plow the road up there. There's a drop off with no guard rail, and when the snow melts and refreezes at night, the road is icy. Sure don't miss that!

I really like my new home, the neighbors, and the convenience of living in town, where it only takes me about 5 minutes to get to the grocery store instead of 30.

Thanks...a good head's up.

My pleasure, do you have a Google+ business account?

with all that is happening is it wise to still have the G+ account?

Yes, hackers will continue to show their strength, but we all need social media for online success. I believe we cannot afford to give up on one or any other for that matter.

Thanks Lanu very well said
Linda

How about your Google ranking? And why not? If you believe other platforms are more safe, you are wrong, it just didn't leak out yet. ;)

You hit the nail, exactly. :))

yup she did well. :))

Hi Stefan,
This news makes one wonder how secure is our privacy within all of Google?

Will the Google + Business account be any safer different than the public account?

I have a Google + account but never used it much. I will take a look at the Business account before signing up.

Bill

Hi Bill,

On the internet there is no privacy, that is what I learned starting using it. Never share intimate things of your personal life if you don't want to share it, that is the Golden rule. :))

Hi Stefan,
You are really correct about no privacy on the internet. I look up info on a lawnmower for example and suddenly you get lawnmower adds on the sidebar for days.

I think for most of us our privacy issues are not really that important. Our "privacy" statements on our websites here at Wealthy Affiliate are more for "show" and a reminder to ourselves to do what we can to protect others privacy.

Thanks for pointing out what I can of thought all along.

Bill

Thank you for sharing the information. I wondered what was going on with G+

Crystal

Hi Crystal. Are you using Google+?

Yikes! Thanks for letting us know!
Colette and Philip

You are welcome, just want to make sure you upgrade to business version as G+ still plays a role for us,
