Well that was a waste of about 2 hours.

I just spent about 2 hours doing a bunch of research and a bunch of typing and had about a 600 word post and I clicked save draft and it came up to try again later.... I just lost a 600 word post.

Any clue how to get it back?

Bummer, I lost one of the posts on my painting site and will have to redo it Lost when I moved from siterubix to .com I think. I hate it. Shirley

Yeah I hate it when life happens. I hope you are able to recover it.

I never write my content directly into WP to prevent things like this from happening. All of my content, even the content for my WA blogs I write and edit within MS Word (or Google Docs) and have it saved on my computer or Google cloud. Then I copy and Paste it into the "Text" tabbed area of the WP editor.

That's what I have done as well. I had the thought of saving it to google docs after I lost my first try at a post.

it was in the wordpress. It usually automatically saves which is why I want worried.

Was this in your blog or a word document. If in your blog it will automatically save as a draft. If in word I have seen some recovery file saved but cannot remember how to do it. Hopefully one of our wizard on computers will be able to help.
take care and hopefully it will be found.
Andre

my blog. But I clicked save as draft and it said please try again. So i clicked on it and it brought me to the add a new post page. It acted as if it wanted me to retype everything

That's strange as every time my gets saved to draft automatically. i do the same as Robert (boomergh08) does I first type in Microsfoft Word save a file there then copy and paste it to my blog and just do some finishing touches to it if it takes my a little while longer the system automatically safes it into draft or if you close it this should also save by itself.
The other suggestion i was going to make earlier which i forgot was to go to Google then top right click the Three lines top right corner and in the dropdown menu that appears click on history about half way down that shows you the last things you may have type. but that may not help you now good to know for next time.
Sorry it happens it is a bummer but we still need to go forward and learn from losses as well.
Take care
Andre

YEah I just rewrote it all. I remembered most but it isnt quite as good. oh well.. Thanks for the comments and help

That sucks, and it has happened to me in the past, but not very often, and I have written hundreds of posts.
Best I can say is to save your writing often.
You can go back to a saved draft in Word Press, but you must save your work often to keep the draft Que updated.
Did you save anything before you lost it all?

nope. Not one bit. Now I have to restart everying. I usually copy and paste the entire thing before I hit submit so that if i lose it i can just hit paste and it is back up but the one time I dont, the whole thing gets deleted and makes me about want to throw my laptop against a wall.

You may have it in a draft form if you were writing it on your WP blog. Always save about every paragraph when writing directly into the WP editor, it will safe it. Scroll down on the page you were working on and see if there is a saved draft.

I just looked and it isn't. But dont worry when I saved my new draft of about 50 words it worked flawlessly. that sucks.

WordPress burps once in a while. Sorry you lost it. :(
