As promised here’s my post on autoresponders.

For seasoned IM’s this is no new info. In fact, they know that an autoresponder is probably the most important tool they need for their business to succeed. It is how they make money at the drop of a hat. You may have seen emails and ads that claim the person who wrote the email can make money in a matter of hours from anywhere in the world. Well, that’s true if they use a list of buyers.

For the newbie, though, an autoresponder is one of those mystical weapons used to strike down buyers and make them bend to your will. Okay. I have come to set the records straight. There are no mystical weapons in the IM business. There is no magic. But there are tools, and an autoresponder is one of them.

An autoresponder is an application (either a desktop program or a web-based one does not matter) that will do a number of automated tasks for you. First, they will collect email addresses and store them in a list.

Here’s how it works:

In your autoresponder you setup a “Campaign”. Let’s say you are setting one up for your WA business. You could simply name it “WA” or “My WA Business”. It really does not matter as long as you know what it is when you see it again. The “Campaign” becomes simply a name that is attached to a specific mailing list.

In our example we want to collect emails of people we offer the WA business to. While in this campaign we go the HTML form and copy the code we find there and paste it into our website or squeeze page. In a web page you could have a box that says, “Signup for our newsletter here” or “Join our newsletter” with the form below it. When people visit you website or squeeze page and fill out the form and submit it, they are added to your mailing list automatically. Of course, you should be using the double opt-in option to comply with the CAN-SPAM laws. Once they receive the verification email and confirm their address by clicking the link they will be added to your list. But not until they do.

There are two other major aspects of a good autoresponder program. The second is the ability to setup autoresponders. Are you confused? You see, the word, “autoresponder” really refers to this aspect of the program. You would go back into your campaign and then to the responders or autoresponders option and setup emails you want to have AUTOMATICALLY sent to the people on your list over a period of time.

With this option you can create regular weekly or monthly newsletters. You can setup emails that will send promotions for products you are selling, new product launches, webinars, and so much more. This is how you will make your money.

The third aspect is the ability to mass email everyone on your list with one email. This is known as broadcasting.

Let’s say you just put together a new product or a new affiliate program you want to promote. You create and email with some great sales copy, add the link to the product sales page, then broadcast it to your email lit and BANG!!! Everyone has just receive a new advertisement that you will hopefully make money on.

Personally, I use my own autoresponder that I created called T-Sponder. It does pretty much everything the other major ones do. Aweber and GetResponse are two of the “Top Dogs” in the autoresponder business. They run about $19 and above. Mine is under $10. It really does not matter which one you use as long as you use one.

Put it to use and start collecting email addresses. The next steps is to figure out how to turn your list into responsive buyers. More on that later.

God bless!

Keep them coming TJ!

Thanks! Great info!

The money is definetly in the list. This allows you to establish and nurture a relationship with your buyers - presenting them with a solution to their problems. Great article, TJ.

I like the landing page creation program that Get Response has to offer.

Thanks TJ helpful information. I will reach out to you when I need set up a autoresponder.

Great article, well articulated... Thanks for the post... will help many.:)

Constant Contact is another good one, but I like Aweber the best. Thanks TJ, good info.

Good article. I'm setting up content right now before I add any affiliate links and before I do autoresponders. I already have an Aweber account and have always planned on using that. Thanks for this

Nice blog and handy info. Thanks

Thanks for the reminder on Aweber. I will be looking tint them as well as MailChimp, which I believe is free.

I have used aweber long back. Then I thought I would create my own auto responder (i know programming) but a weber has the flexibility and I feel the mail sent by aweber won't go into spam but the one's generated by our program might, I might be wrong.

btw, good article :)
