Already Google Indexed on Level One, Lesson Seven
I couldn't share this news on a blog post yesterday due to the daily limit on blogs, so I am sharing it today. I just want to encourage anybody wondering how long it will take to get indexed on Google that it can happen as fast as Level One, Lesson Seven.
It may have helped that I purchased my own website via GoDaddy and have a DOT COM in my URL. It's a long story, but I had a free SiteRubix blog and my GoDaddy site up at the same time when I was indexed. The dot com was indexed before the free one, even though the content was the same. ALL that was on both sites was my "About Me" post and my "Privacy Policy" page. And I had not even populated my SEO page on the GoDaddy site like I had on my SiteRubix one.
I don't know, but using a Gravatar on my site and using my real name may have helped too. I do not know what criteria Google uses to decide to index a website.
I am over the moon happy with my training here at Wealthy Affiliate. I encourage everyone to take one baby step at a time. Even if you feel like you are crawling instead of walking or running, KEEP GOING. Keep pushing yourself. Take a break when you get frustrated and then get back at it. And ASK QUESTIONS when you need help. I don't think I would be doing this well or feeling this good without the help of those who commented on my blogs and my questions. A little encouragement goes a long way.

Wonderful work! A great milestone for you, keep it up and take the excitement of such wonderful news and press even-the-more now
Congratulations on being indexed by Google. It's a great first step. Your next step is to write good content that gets ranked for your desired keywords/search terms.
Just so that you're clear, there's a difference between being indexed and being ranked. Indexed simply means that your website's pages and posts appear in Google's database and can be found by their URLs. This happens automatically as Googlebot crawls the web but can be speeded up by using Google Search Console. Each page and post is indexed individually. There's no such thing as "the site". It's a collection of pages and posts.
Pages and posts are ranked for particular keywords/search terms. This is what you're striving for. So that your post comes up on page 1 when someone enters that keyword/search term.
Thank you for clarifying all that for me, Phil. I already understood the index versus ranking terms, but I did not realized that EACH page and post is indexed and ranked separately. It's hard to wrap my head around that, but I think you are saying it all depends on what a person types into the Google Search bar (keywords used) and how good my content is as to whether my website will show up on the first page a person sees when they Google something or not.
Thanks so much for the feedback :)
Yes, Theresa. Indexing happens automatically as Googlebot relentlessly crawls the internet and simply means that your website's posts and pages are added to Google's database.
Ranking is quite different and is a factor assigned to a post or page for a particular keyword or search term and depends not only on your content and backlinks, but is relative to all the other websites that are competing for that same keyword.
Microsoft (Bing) and Google (Chrome) use different algorithms, so you will get different rankings for the same keyword.
This is very awesome, Theresa, and your positive attitude is refreshing and infectious!๐๐
