Affiliate Marketing VS Multi-Level Marketing

Do you know the difference?

The MLM industry has claimed many names for their business model. Multi-Level Marketing, Network Marketing, Relationship Marketing etc. They have even tried to claim Social Marketing.

The term "multi-level" explains it all.

If there are multiple levels involved in recruiting more marketers, then it is multi-level marketing.

Am I wrong?

The problem I have with 99.9% of the MLM companies, is their HYPE on how easy it is to make HUGE amounts of money and have loads of time freedom, when the reality is so far from that hype.

What is amazing, is the numbers of people that invest their money and time into these overly hyped programs, when their "Income Disclosure Statements" show exactly how LITTLE the mass majority is able to earn.

The MLMers will claim, "you got a put in the work", and will pass 100% of the responsibility onto the independent representative.

The truth is, the systems are not designed to pay the marketers. The systems are designed to pay the "inner circle" people involved.

There is a lot of corruption in the MLM world, and I am surprised that the industry is still surviving.

I'm sure you have your opinion of MLM also known as network marketing, so let's see it!

I couldn't agree more!

If you actually do the math on most programs, you need a stupid number of people below you to make any kind of money. You'll alienate all of your friends trying to recruit them. You'll become obsessed, probably buy a ton of junk you don't need, and ultimately become disenchanted and quit. Then then person above you will replace you with someone else who has dreams but no math skills to figure it out in advance.

Totally agree. I stay far away from MLMs. The vast majority of people who sign up lose money. Very few make money. The ones who do can actually make a lot of money (I know a couple of people who do - and they make well in excess of $1m), but for every one of these there are thousands who end up worse off, in my view. The industry survives off the ones who do make money and are held up as poster children for the company.

I stay far away from MLM. It's often touted as a way to build your own business with those people you bring in beneath you in the levels. Well, each of those below and each above take a slice of the pie. That means that pie has to be pretty big and each taker gets a pretty small slice!

Was never into MLM.

Unfortunately, you’re correct. Haven't found one that actually works!
