Don't get distracted by "...that man behind the curtain" - STAY FOCUSED!
Wealthy Affiliates is the real deal...
...and it's an amazing business network but if you're like me it is fairly easy to get distracted making connections, reading blogs and asking/answering questions in an effort to get a low WA ranking. Now I would never presume to tell you to "...pay NO ATTENTION to that man behind the curtain" since the proverbial man is a valuable affiliate marketing network of like minded folks who actually have your best interest at heart. All with no vested monetary interest.
I'm speaking to myself...
...as much as I'm speaking to you. As a newbie one month in at the time I'm writing this I found myself in week 2 reading everything that came to my email and notifications list. I started falling behind on my timeline of goals because I got "distracted". While my rank was coming down my timeline was getting longer and longer. So what did I do? I went to the other extreme end of the pool and deleted myself from discussion notifications so I could focus. Little did I know that my ranking had started creeping back up. I was learning and building my site but I was neglecting the human relationships that it's going to take to succeed in this business.
Here's my C.R.A.S.H. course to staying focused and succeeding;
- CREATE a table of daily content/marketing goals for your business and do what it takes to get it done!
- RESERVE a specific time to get the daily goals done and focus on just that.
- ASSIGN time to read notifications, forums, emails, blogs etc. This time should be for networking and taking notes from others within the network. HAVE FUN WITH IT!!
- SELECT folks to follow that you connect with/vibe and who's businesses you can benefit as well as them benefiting yours. I choose to have a select group within my network. It minimizes the distractions (no offense to anyone if I haven't followed you). However, my door is open to everyone who I may be able to help.
- HELP others with your knowledge. As it says when you get a "like" email notification, "When people like your comments it improves your ranking within Wealthy Affiliate which is going to lead to some really awesome perks going forward". The only way to get "likes" is to comment, reply, post training blogs and blog on your page. But make sure it is assigned time when you do. Give yourself and other will give to you.
...it requires a happy medium between creating content and networking to grow in this business. We cannot succeed without the human element but we have to be able to balance our network efforts with our marketing efforts. We get paid from content NOT from how many followers we have although it does help our WA ranking which could lead to other perks (still waiting for my first extra perk but that is NOT my focus).
So please acknowledge "...that man behind the curtain" but don't let him keep you from your mission of financial freedom, family fulfillment and a better lifestyle.

It's easy to get caught up wtbee2013. It's a constant battle for me but that's just how I am wired. But once I'm focused, WATCHOUTNOW! lol

I had to switch off to some notifications for a while too Boss-man. That's why I'm just doing some catching up now - 2 months later. But yes, we do need to prioritize. There are only so many hours in a day to get done what must be done, and not what we'd like to do.
