Abandoned Number 1s

I love to start blogs. Not so much maintaining them. I have an abandoned blog that I just went and checked on. It is on the first page of Google for its main keyword. The blog is www.migraineswithaura.com and the main keyword is "migraines with aura". I made a mistake in my initial keyword research and thought the traffic for this keyword was much greater than it really is. But, I'm thinking maybe I should revisit it.

I also have a domain www.mthfrgenemutation.com that I own that I'm not really doing anything with. I wrote a kindle title about the subject and I'm basically just using that site as an advertisement for my Kindle book. But, I just went and checked on it. It is on the first page of Google for the keyword "mthfr gene mutation", too.

I'm not updating or really monetizing either one of these bad boys. Obviously, I could be putting in the effort there instead of working on the new site that I have started for the courses here.

...or am I just trying to sabotage my current project. Is this a case of "old shiny"?

Hey April...that is a great KW you picked and there is a very nice amount of monthly searches for that KW....That site could be a nice money earner.....add some more KW'ed post and you have a winner... Nice Going

If they are ranking and you aren't doing much with them, I would take the time to at least get a product or two on them. If that is still too much work, drop some adsense on them and let them at least do a bit of work for you.

I just put some adsense code on one of them. I'm waiting for approval. I think I'm going to slowly rebuild them with what I've learned here. But, only when my primary website tasks are done.

I tend to do the same thing. One thing I've learned while I've been here is that you should work to do one main project at a time. It's impossible to put 100% into two separate projects.

Oh, I know. It is just hard to ignore them since they are ranking. I am going to keep plugging along on this project. But, I think I will start a posts journal for one of the old ones. That way, if I do decide to take it back up, I have plenty of post topics.
