The Ant and the Grasshopper: The Entrepreneur's Parable
The Ant and the Grasshopper: The Entrepreneur's Parable

Once upon a time in the digital meadow, two online entrepreneurs started their journey.
The Ant woke up early each day, laying one brick at a time:
- Built a website.
- Researched keywords.
- Wrote blog posts no one read (yet).
- Saved his earnings.
- Took courses. Improved his SEO. Collected emails.
βWhy work so hard?β laughed The Grasshopper, who launched fast:
- Flashy logo β
- Viral TikTok β
- Dropship store up in a weekend β
βMoney comes quick when you hustle,β he said.
The Ant nodded and kept building.
Summer turned to fall. Trends shifted. Ads got expensive. Traffic dipped.
By winter, the recession season, the grasshopperβs store dried up. His audience moved on. He had no list, no brand, no backup.
Meanwhile, the Antβs blog ranked. His email list is engaged. His passive income flowed.
"Help me!β said the Grasshopper.
The Ant replied, not unkindly:
βYou built a tent. I built a foundation.β
And with a warm smile, he offered mentorship, not just a handout.
Moral for Entrepreneurs:
Chasing quick wins is fun, but lasting success comes from slow, steady, intentional work. Build systems. Build trust. Build something that lasts.
When youβre starting an online business, itβs tempting to sprint toward quick profits or chase every new trend. But the businesses that survive and thrive are built on solid foundations. That means understanding your audience, creating valuable content, building trust, and developing systems that work even when you're not watching. It may not be flashy at first, but brick by brick, youβre creating something durable, scalable, and real. Just like the ant, your steady effort today becomes your shelter tomorrow. Be Smart, Become the Ant!

I love your story, love your encouraging message and - I really love that image!!!
And I have to read The Little Engine That Could,,, I guess the title shows you are dad and a grandad... And I need to check whether I have it on my train book list - if not, it will go on...
It is tough to keep kids entertained without screens. I invest in books for them and try to keep them away from digital downloads.
Images are improving.
I have just bought a new domain for a book site mainly for kids and I would like to include titles for the US Amazon, so I may come to ask you for recommendations occasionally, if I may.
Oh, how true that is. Without the foundation, everything falters. Building slowly and credibly will always be the winning strategy. Loved your analagy of ants and grasshoppers. Thanks for sharing this. Best wishes, Jenni.
Thank you for enjoying. I am trying a new approach to delivering information. As to the topic, failure to plan is a plan to fail. Building a foundation is the most crucial part of any business and will serve you in the long run. The Ant and the Grasshopper serves as the perfect example in my mind of the reason you need a strong foundation.
